Morrison Hotel Gallery, which represents more than 125 photographers and their archives, announced that it will win the Music Photography of the Year Award in partnership with Abbey Road Studios. The 2025 edition will see MPA host a series of launch events, including in New York, including a special exhibition that includes MPA Idol Award winner (and legendary music photographer) Henry Diltz and Jill Furmanovksy.
The planned collection will be held from May 28 to June 3 at Morrison Hotel Gallery in the SoHo community in New York, with an exclusive reception on May 29.
Since the 1960s, Diltz has shot the cover of more than 250 albums, including the "Morrison Hotel" album (above) and iconic photos of Jimi Hendrix (above) in Woodstock, Neil Young, Kurt Cobain, Joni Mitchell, Joni Mitchell, Janis Joplin and countless others.
Furmanovksy documented punk, New Wave, Ska and Reggae of the 1970s, through the British pop boom of the 1990s. She has a long working relationship with Oasis, who will tour for the first time this summer since 2009. Her contribution to the MPA exhibition will focus on images of her oasis, including those above Liam Gallagher, and photos taken at the 1995 show at Slane Castle in Ireland, and recorded in a group at Abbey Road Studios.
The series will also include work by photographer and director Christaan Felber (pictured above by Mac Miller), who received an MPA nomination in 2024, and Sacha Lecha, deputy photo editor of Rolling Stone (photos taken by Billie Joe Joe Armstrong of Green Day appear below).
