Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, who is about to become a U.S. senator, has called for an audit of the Federal Reserve, pledged to speak out against government spending and announced her efforts to tighten the border and deport individuals who enter the country illegally.
Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio is leaving to serve as secretary of state in the new Trump administration, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced Moody as his pick to replace Rubio in the U.S. Senate.
Even some Democrats plan to support confirmation, and Rubio is likely to sail through a confirmation vote.
"This is my top priority in the Senate: Our inflation is driven by the Fed. We must audit the Fed!" Moody's declared in a post on X.

“As Florida’s next U.S. Senator, I will work tirelessly to reduce bloat in Washington and speak out against government spending,” she stated in another post. "Just like we have done in Florida, this state needs to cut spending and be fiscally responsible. I look forward to working with DOGE and I will work hard to put the next generation of our state on a stronger financial footing."
When discussing her role in confirming judges and justices, she singled out Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.
"As a former judge, I take seriously my role in confirming judges and justices to ensure that they, like Justices Thomas and Alito, share the legal values and concepts our Founding Fathers understood," she tweeted. "I will complete the Senate confirmation process to ensure that those confirmed are strong nominees and know their responsibility to interpret the Constitution."

DeSantis shared Moody's post, calling Alito and Thomas the "gold standard."
"In the U.S. Senate, I will support President @realDonaldTrump and fight for legislation to strengthen the border, build a wall, and deport those who enter the country illegally," Moody tweeted.
