Mikel Arteta has reiterated Arsenal's need for forward additions in the January transfer window and confirmed the Gunners have identified potential targets.

Injury increases stress Arteta enters the transfer market with the Gunners without Bukayo Saka until at least March, with Gabriel Jesus out of contention for the season.

Arsenal's internal talks continue to recruit forwards, with RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko and Wolves captain Matheus Cunha on the list of two names linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium .

While Arteta is not keen to talk about individual goals ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Wolves, the Gunners boss revealed work continues behind the scenes to come up with a move forward in January for Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.

"Have I ever said no to a striker?" Arteta said when asked about Arsenal's need to sign a striker sky sports newsJamie Weir.

"We lost two very important players of and Jesus. Our lack of goals and options ahead was obvious.

"If we can get the right players, that's what we're looking at actively.

"Any player? No. Someone who made us better and had an impact on the team. We needed some help during that time losing those guys because we were short.

“The team is still dealing with that but we have to do what’s right for the club.”

Asked if Arsenal had identified potential targets, Arteta replied: "Yes."

"There is so much external noise around Arsenal that they simply must Sign a forward this month - at least a long-term option to keep any hopes of winning the title alive.

"To this day, Mikel Arteta seems to be hinting at this and although he wants to do it, he doesn't feel it is absolutely necessary.

"That changed this morning as an unusually fringe Arteta admitted publicly that they did need The forwards of the month were signed this month in light of the losses of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus.

"Another interesting comment that came out of his press conference this morning was that the player himself felt the team needed to strengthen and that Arteta consulted the player on potential signings.

"He said their input on the personalities and roles of players they might want to bring in was 'invaluable'."
