The Dallas star’s 3-1 victory in Game 4 against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night is a comparison of offensive efficiency. The jet is second only to the 72-pole attempt. Meanwhile, Dallas center Mikael Granlund scored three goals in just three attempts. His hat-trick was all the offense the Stars needed to lead the command game with a 3-1 lead, reaching the Western Conference finals from a third straight win.
"Obviously, this work isn't done yet. We have a lot of work to do. (But) got a good win," Grandlund said.
This is Granlund's first professional hat-trick, a 13-year veteran who won the hat-trick from the San Jose Shark in a February deal. Three goals and three goals, they all drove past Jets goalkeeper Connor Hellebuyck, who still had no victory on the road in the 2025 playoffs.
Granlund's first goal was 8:36 in the power game, when he slipped into three Jets defensemen and shot Hellebuyck from the top of the slot.
"I just photographed it somewhere and went in," Grandlund said.
"My appearance is clean enough. It's just a damn perfect shot, right above my mat and under my gloves." Hellebuyck lamented.
"Obviously, he might want the first defender," Jets coach Scott Arniel said of Hellebuyck. "At the end of the day, we have to provide him with some running support. Let him lead."
Granlund's second and second goal were initiated by Mikko Rantanen, whose league lead totals 19 playoffs. His exit pass found Granlund in the neutral zone and appeared 2-on-1 with Roope Hintz. Granlund kept the puck and covered it, Dallas led 2-1 after Nik Ehlers tied for Winnipeg earlier in the second phase.
"When you've been shooting hockey, sometimes it surprises the goalkeeper. It's great to shoot occasionally," Grandlund said.
Granlund's third and final hit attempt was another Dallas power play in stage 3, after a double free throw against defender Haydn Fleury, who made a free throw against Hintz's high-profile hintz.
Defensive player Miro Heiskanen missed the last 32 regular season and first 10 playoff games in the season since January 28 for the first time since January 28, due to a knee injury, and the hockey collected the hockey after Matt Duchene fired him out of his post. Heiskanen slid it onto Granlund to get him to kneel on the ice. After defeating Hellebuyck in the third stage 7:23, the waves of the hat hit the ice to celebrate Grand Lund’s three-pointer night.
It is appropriate that Rantanen and Heiskanen have a point of view on Granlund's hat trick. This is the first game that the stars call the "Finnish Mafia" plays together, because Hescanen was injured before Grandlond and Lantanan joined the team. The three skaters joined Sinz resident and defensive player Esa Lindell to help Dallas win.
"It's definitely fun. Finally having fun on the ice with them," Hescanin said.
Goalkeeper Jake Oettinger made 31 saves, many of which were dangerous Winnipeg chances. But in the end, all the stars were three attempts, and the Jets' massive offensive night produced only one goal.
"Oettinger stopped some massive scale. But we made 70 shot attempts. We had to get more than one goal," Anil said. "If we can't find more than one goal, we won't win the hockey game, especially (opposite) this team."
Dallas will try to end the series in Winnipeg on Thursday night.
