Michael B. Jordan will be the 39th American Cinema Awards. The "Sinner" star and "Creed III" director will hold a tribute ceremony at Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills on November 20.
“Michael B. Jordan’s career is an unparalleled display cabinet that combines outstanding talent and a purposeful vision that makes him an important force in today’s film business,” Rick Nitica, chairman of the board of directors of the U.S. cinema board, said in a statement to announce the news.
"He entered the ranks of movie stars with 'Fruitvale Station' and quickly played iconic roles in "Black Panther" and three "Creed" films, including his directorial debut in "Creed III" and more directorial efforts," Nitia continued. "He has become a prolific producer on multiple projects in our business, with his charity activities numerous and extensive.
Jordan regular collaborator Ryan Coogler made $240 million in domestic box office and counting. Next, Jordan will direct (via his outlier banner) and star in "Thomas Crown" at Amazon MGM Studios. The upcoming film is a sophomore director effort in Jordan, and since then "Creed III" is the highest-grossing sports movie ever.
The American Cinema Award is one of Jordan’s recent honors, and he was named a Time 100 winner in 2023, won the Academy Museum Vanguard Award and won a star on the Hollywood Celebrity Tour. Reflect on these career milestones in interviews type"I don't know the blessings and opportunities I've given. At the same time, I still feel like I have something to prove. I still feel like I want to make people proud. I want to make myself proud - so I've been working on improving the bar."
Previous American cinema winners include Denzel Washington (who directs Jordan in 2021’s “Jordan Diary”), Eddie Murphy, Bette Midler, Robin Williams, Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, Martin Scorsese, Martin Scorsese, Sean Sean Bruce Willis, Nicolas Cage, Nicole Kidman Kidman, Steve Martin, Al Pacino, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Samuel L. Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Helen Mirren. Last year's American Cinema Awards were presented to Jessica Chastain.
Earlier this week, Tom Cruise won the award in 1997, praising Jordan as the future of the film business. Cruise told Jordan tonight: "I am his big fan. 'Sinner' is amazing.
