The Mexican Football Federation (FMF) confirmed to ESPN that Mexico will co-host the 2031 Women's World Cup with the United States.
The federal announcement of news as a bounce after Monday's LIGA MX owners' meeting.
FIFA announced earlier this year that the United States submitted its only "effective bid" to host the 2031 Women's World Cup. That year, the game will expand to 48 teams in women's terms for the first time.
Mexico's press release said it was designated to co-host the 2031 World Cup with the United States and other CONCACAF countries, with equal numbers of matches. ”
When ESPN commented, US football did not confirm Mexico's role. FIFA has also been contacted for comment.
A FMF spokesman said it was "too early" to define how many games each country would host.
Mexico was originally part of a joint bid with the United States for the 2027 Women's World Cup, but before the last vote, the bid was withdrawn, focusing on the 2031 event, and FIFA President Gianni Infantino has expressed interest in expanding. Brazil has won the right to host the 2027 World Cup.
When the United States resubmitted its bid for the 2031 World Cup football match, it did it alone, while mentioning the possibility that other countries in Konk might join co-hosts.
U.S. football CEO JT Batson welcomed the expansion of the Women's World Cup at a small roundtable in Los Angeles in April, including ESPN, and the federal government welcomed the expansion of the Women's World Cup. He also talked about the incident on the regional side.
"We very much see 2031 as an opportunity to grow the game at all levels, but also as an opportunity to grow the game in the region and globally," Batson said.
US Football has been open to co-hosts of the 2031 Championship. Federal announced its bid in April for an opportunity to co-host with our CONCACAF partners.
"As FIFA finally completes the number of participating teams, we will consolidate the partnership structure with the CONCACAF nation," our football said in an April statement.
The United States will co-host the 2026 Men's World Cup with Mexico and Canada.
11 of the 16 host cities in 2026 are in the United States, and the final will be held at Metlife Stadium, New Jersey.
