Metropolitan Notes: David Peterson

The Mets won a good start in Arizona on Monday and they watched David Peterson Continue to win in the desert.

However, despite the three innings being started by South Claws, their execution was not enough to stop the Rattlers.

"A bit of a mixed bag," Peterson talks about his start. "My stuff feels good. Bad execution on several courts and no one paid too much for free base."

Peterson threw a season-high 104 goals and scored six innings. But his four free passes hurt him as Arizona took advantage and ran four runs on the left-handed. But the big blow is the sixth Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Jumped on the fastball from the first game, which was two shots in the midfield, which gave the Rattlers, Zach Gallenenough to complete a 5-1 victory.

"(Peterson's start) is better than the numbers," manager Carlos Mendoza Said after the game. "He used all the courses, the fastballs were good, the change, the slider, but here and there the drama, a court towards Guril, but I think it's good."

Peterson's outing on Tuesday put him at 2-2 and raised his time to 3.52 in the first seven games of the 2025 season.

Metropolis' recent hard stretch

After the heat began, the Mets have played a little in recent weeks.

They were 4-8 in the last 12 games and 0-2-1 in that time, Wednesday’s Rubber Games decided on the upcoming series. Although the Mets still sit in the NL East with a record of 23-14, the recent games have not won the victory as the team wants. Despite this, the Mets remain confident in the group and they will soon turn things around.

"It's never easy. That's what makes the major leagues" Mendoza talks about this piece. "You will go through stretching, where you find a way and you have to fight. You will go through some ups and downs. Overall, we've been there in every game. Guys keep competing, and that's what you want.

"Obviously, you want to reach the top, we will. There was no attention there."

Peterson added, "You will go through some ups and downs. We've played some tough games and we've been playing nine innings against each game. You win a little, you lose a little. The good thing about this team is that everyone can take what happened today and rinse clearly and prepare to compete and be ready to win the court."

"Zach (Gallen) pitched well and he could only run out of the jam in one inning. Apart from that, his pitching is good. Sometimes you have to put a hat on them," Brandon Nimmo talks about the offense. "We'll be back tomorrow to prepare. This happens sometimes. His pitching was good. We are back tomorrow and try to win the court."

The Mets will win their first series since late April (Wednesday) afternoon.

Juan Soto makes history

Soto has a typical Soto Statline for Arizona on Tuesday. Although he wasn't hit, he walked twice, including base on two outs in the third.

But these two walks helped the first year of Metropolitan history. Soto Mickey Mantle (797).

"It's impressive, when you talk about these names, he's only 26 years old, he already falls into that category, that's elite," Mendoza talks about this achievement. "It's not easy, and that's what makes him a special batsman. His ability to control the strike zone, he seems to continue to get better. He is not afraid of walking. If they are afraid to pitch at him, he will occupy his base. There is great achievement there."
