Max Homa, one of several well-known figures who did not meet Oakmont's 2025 U.S. Open exemption, left his Oak's biggest fortune to Ohio State's qualifiers on Monday.
Known as the "longest day in golf", Homa is one of many golfers, including Rickie Fowler, Cameron Young, Bud Cauley, Jake Knapp, Padraig Harrington and Adam Hadwin are trying to qualify for Oakmont at 10 different locations across the country.
Kinsale Golf and Fitness Club is home to six qualifying matches, with golfers participating in two rounds on Monday. But on his 36th hole, a three-pointer put Homa into the five-man playoffs with Fowler, Young, Eric Cole and Chase Johnson. Young grabbed the last spot with a bird on the 38th hole.

But Homa is in his loneliness all day, as he is no longer with two-month caddie Bill Harke.
So Homa holds his bag for all 38 holes.
"I'd rather talk about golf than all the questions about caddies," Homa said. "I'm fine. Fighting hoof 36.''
But obviously, he didn't seem to mind.

"It seems better than when someone is standing next to me for some reason," he said. "I probably need to walk more. Maybe I just see it as a nice, peaceful walk. Maybe I have to fight some demons and no one can rely on. Maybe it helps a little bit. No one…everything is me. Everything is me. Fighting helps that."
As for golf?
"It can be heartbreaking, but it's OK," Homa said. "I haven't brought 36 holes in a while, so I'm a little tired."
Homa is not entirely outside the U.S. Open. He will be in the Canadian Open this week, although he may have to win the top 60 and qualify.
The Masters, the first time since the open championship last year, completed the T12 at Augusta. But since then, he has finished 70th, T30, T60 and T51. Last year, he ranked 10th in the world.
