Matthew Tkachuk

Things are getting hotter in the second round of the playoff series between the defending Stanley Cup champions Florida Panthers and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Toronto jumped out with a 2-0 lead, but Florida was in a strait, winning back-to-back wins in Games 3 and 4, and even winning when the series returned to Canada.

Things got weird between the two sides as the final horn sounded in Sunday's 2-0 victory. Maple Leaf forward Max Domi blinded Panthers Captain Aleksander Barkov from behind, causing him to hit the board first.

Officials worked hard to separate them before things got out of control, resulting in Domi's hit rate making everyone on the ice involved. When this happened, the camera grabbed Panthers star Matthew Tkachuk and pointed the stick at William Nylander and signaled it with an elbow.

Another angle from the bench shows that Tkachuk appears to be a threat to Nylander in retaliation for Barkov's cheap shots.

"Who am I going to get the next game?" Tkachuk asked. "Guess who I'm going to. I'm looking for you."

Fortunately for the Panthers, Balkov did not seem to have been seriously injured due to the incident.

"Yes, I think he'll be fine," Panthers head coach Paul Maurice told reporters after the game.

This is not the first time Tkachuk gets attention at the end of his game against the Maple Leafs.

Florida Panthers left-wing Matthew Tkachuk (19) awaits a standoff against Toronto Maple Leafs in the second round of the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs at Cland Arena in Scotland.

With just a few seconds left in Toronto's 5-4 games, Tkachuk appeared in a video that seemed to try to knock out Maple Leafs' star forward Mitch Marner.

The 27-year-old striker was skating at Marner and seemed to try to bring him to the board, but Marner pulled up and avoided hit percentage.

Given how the game ended on Sunday, fans may be anxious to see if tkachuk warned the Maple Leaf Board in Game 5 on Wednesday.
