Marc Maron podcast "WTF" ends after 16 years

Mac Maron decides to end his WTF Podcast 16 years later. The actor made the announcement on Monday's show, acknowledging that he and his production partner Brendan McDonald were "burned" and confirmed that the final episode will air sometime in the fall.

"We've been doing this for sixteen years and we've decided that our running was great. Now, it's basically the time, guys. It's time. WTF It's coming to an end. This is our decision. We'll be doing the final episode sometime in the fall. ” said Ma Long.

WTFThis will officially turn 16 in September and has more than 1,600 episodes, becoming one of the most influential shows in the podcasting industry. Maron is known for his candid and honest conversations with a variety of influential guests, including Barack Obama, Carol Burnett, Chris Rock, Jay Leno and many more. Maron's plot with Robin Williams became the first one-on-one podcast to enter the U.S. National Recording Registry. They are also the first Governor Award winner for the 2021 Ambies Podcast Academy.

"It really depends on us having a new show every Monday and Thursday for nearly 16 years, and we're tired. We're very happy with the work we're doing." "It doesn't mean I'm never going to do something like that again. It doesn't mean I'm never going to talk like I'm here, or do some kind of podcast at some point in time. But for the moment, we're just packing everything. It's OK. It's OK to end things. It can try to start some other chapters in life."

The show started early in the podcast, and early in the media, with media gaining popularity. Maron and McDonald continued to work together as two people for years. "It's starting, you know it's an old garage...it's just that no one knows what the podcast is," Malone said. "I was out of a horrible divorce. I wanted to figure out how to keep going."

The podcast will continue to release new episodes throughout the fall, and Maron promises to feature “as many people as possible”, including some who might want to show up “Now you know it’s like a home stretch.”

Malone emphasized that the decision to end the show was between him and McDonald's. "It's great to be able to end things on our terms. We've always had the ability to do that, and that's what we're going to do. We started the show with our terms and we grew up on our terms and we're going to end on our terms."
