Spain's Bilba O-Ruben Amorim said it was "hard to explain" why his pressure at Manchester United was different from Tottenham rival Ange Postecoglou before the Europa League final, although both teams suffered similar pain in the Premier League campaign.
Manchester United and Spurs are ranked 16th and 17th in the Premier League respectively as they prepare to face each other in St. Mams in Bilbao on Wednesday.
Even if Tottenham ends their 17-year wait for the trophy, it may fire coglou's advice.
Meanwhile, sources told ESPN that even if United loses the final, Amorim will continue to work at Old Trafford and miss a spot in the Champions League next season.
"I don't know." Amorim said when asked why he didn't seem to have the same pressure as postecoglou. "I know, in a club like this, it's also Tottenham Hotspur, especially Manchester United, it's weird because you have some coaches here who have lost some games and been fired. It's hard to explain.
“I think people see what we are going to do, and I think what people think more than I do is my thinking about clubs. People, especially the board, understand that we have a lot of problems that are difficult in the context.
"I don't know how to explain the fans who like me at this moment. It's hard to explain. I want to prove myself to the fans, the board of directors, but I don't have an explanation for you."
Amorim has won only six league matches since his appointment in mid-November, in stark contrast to their Europa League format as the team reached the Ninth European Final in its history.
United have determined their worst Premier League results and are likely to end the 17th season of the season – only a spot above the relegation position, depending on the results of the final weekend of the season.
The Portuguese coach faced criticism of his record at Old Trafford, but suggested it would be in his favor, and he predicted all the problems he had.
"The most important thing is that I know what I'm doing and explain everything at the beginning," Amorim added. "I explained the storm (about to come). I explained all the problems we had to do to the board, so I was clear that I explained that I wouldn't change my mind."
"So they can't say what I'm talking about and then I change my mind. It's the opposite. I think the board can understand that. I think fans can understand that, but we're going to get to a moment and we have to win anyway."
Captain Bruno Fernandes joined Amorim at a press conference Tuesday and he was able to see interesting aspects of the issues about his manager's future. Before Amorim could answer the statement that his pressure was different from postecoglou's, Fernandez jumped up and said, "Who told you he wasn't? He was!"
A smiley Amorim said: "He will be a very, very good coach. But he has to work hard with his own mindset. He doesn't know how to deal with people."
