Manchester United must say "all throttle" in the last game

Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner said his team must go all out at the end of the season.

The Red Devils ended the Barclays Women's Super League campaign, having tough matches against Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal.

Manchester United boss Skinner said in a conversation with the media ahead of tonight's game against Chelsea that his team must give everything and chase three wins.

"We have to be prepared with a mindset that this is the three games we can win," Skinner said. "If we win all three games, we might depend on how much Chelsea performs (we can win the championship).

“We know it’s a challenging ending for the season, but that’s why we’re here.”

Chelsea withdrew from the UEFA Women's Champions League on the weekend after a total of 8-2 defeat to Barcelona in the semi-finals. Skinner is looking forward to the Blues' reaction, but wants his own side to focus.

He said: "After only listen to Bompastor's comments, they want to react to the game. I'm sure they are not satisfied with the score of their legs.

“For us, we just need to be prepared to face Chelsea. We know what we did last time, what works, but we also know what we have to do to get a positive result.

"They are professional players, the best players in the world, and I'm sure they'll be hurt. We have to manage this injury, but do the same thing to them. It's a huge challenge, but it's something we really expect."

The two sides in the November reverse fixture separate the sides, and Skinner hopes to have a better balance between offense and defense tonight.

He said: “When we played, they were still used to the Sonia style of competition.

“They have a lot of rotations in the midfield, so you have to prepare for these runners; they can sit in two deep and rotate one. There are a lot of rotations in the midfield and we have to realize. Of course, they have invasive threats, and they also have distributions from deep, so they have a lot of threats to prepare for you.

“We did a great job in the (first) game. Maybe when we tried to touch the ball, we were more passive. I think we’ve changed since that game, which is early for us.

"I want to make sure we have a balance between offense and defense, which will be key. We can't just defend this game and hope to win, we have to beat them by attacking them."
