Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim insists he hasn't quit yet, but admits he'll be fired if the performance doesn't improve | Football News

Ruben Amorim said he did not resign from the United boss' resignation if his results do not improve next season.

After West Ham came to Old Trafford, Amorim felt "embarrassed" and won United for the first time in nine matches.

The United boss warned that everyone in the club had to “think a lot of things seriously” and then said that if the bad situation continued after the summer, they should “give others space.”

But Amorim insisted he did not resign at a press conference ahead of the Europa League final against Totterham next Wednesday.

Asked if he would resign seriously, Amorim said: “I didn’t quit.”

He added: "I mean, I've been talking about standards since I got here. I can't see the team's results, especially in the Premier League, rather than saying something and taking responsibility."

"I have a clear plan. I understand the team's problems."

However, the Manchester United boss is more optimistic than after the failed West Ham, warning: "We need to perform or they will change us."

Amorim confirms he is paying for final employee tickets

Amorim also confirmed that he agreed to pay for his behind-the-scenes staff to pay in next week's Europa League final, after reports that the club would not pay for the tickets.

This is just the latest cost-cutting measures implemented by Manchester United minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who has overseen more than 400 layoffs since controlling the Glazer family.

Amorim admitted that it was "hard to manage things" at Manchester United, saying the cuts made it difficult for the club to pay for those employees who were still working.

“We have a lot of people leaving and a lot of changes have happened to the staff,” Amorim said.

“Currently, in our clubs, it is sometimes difficult to understand when to take it, when to give and respect our work to survive and rebuild.

“The club gives other staff members it’s complicated, so it’s a very tough position.

“This situation is explained and my reaction is to help because – I’m not a good person – it won’t change my life. Players have the same reaction.

“Everyone wants the staff and family there.”
