After Humphries' competition grew, Humphries lost to Littler and his victory paid off.
The two have faced 22 more times since playing against each other for the first time in the 2024 World Championship Final, with Littler winning 10 wins for Humphries.
They are two of the highest ranking players in the world, and this has been very clear in the past 18 months.
When they are in the highest form, it feels like another player who is the only player who can live with them.
Coupled with the consistency they are able to reach this level, there is no doubt that Littler-Dutch competition is being talked about as a competition for darts that can dominate in the coming years.
"These two people may be sewing darts," said Sky Sports expert Wayne Mardle.
“They will be the middle streaming platform of the dart world. Others will have to perform well to make the two better.
"If they yearn for four, five, six or even ten years, then someone will have to step up."
Humphreys' persuasiveness was less plausible when asked if he felt he and Littler would fight at the top for the next 10 or 15 years.
"The problem is, there will always be another person coming," he said.
“In five years, about 10 players were as good as me and Luke, and it could be a battle between us all.
“I would say that over the next decade we will be fighting against it in many finals – we might – but they might be many other names we are involved in.”
But, for the moment, Humphreys and Littler are already at the distance between themselves and chasing their backpacks.
But even though 23 games were played in such a short time, there is no sign of familiarity with breeding.
"I love him. I think he's a good kid," Humphreys said of his teenage competitor.
“He was my close friend in the darts. He might win a lot more of my career because he was young and he was a great talent.
"I'm so happy to be there and there. I told him on stage, I'm really happy to win this, but I'm sure he'll give me a lot of times in the future.
“It’s just another final for Luke and Luke Saga.”
The next phase of the legend will see competitors become teammates as they join forces for England in the World Cup darts in Frankfurt in June.
"I can't wait," Littler told Sky Sports. “He won last year and hopefully he can lead me to victory.”
They should form a strong duo, but it's only a matter of time before they fight on Oche again in big games.
Next time it's Littler and not Humphries, he might get revenge.
