"Blue: The Life and Art of George Rodrigue, a documentary about an artist known for his paintings of "Blue Dogs", will premiere on public television on May 29 and via streaming on pbs.org.

Louisianan Rodrigue was recognized for incorporating Cajun culture into its art.

“I hope audiences see 'Blue' as a taxi to George Rodrigue's ending impact on art and culture in Louisiana and around the world. His story as an artist is layered and deeply inspiring. From his majestic oak trees and evocative Cajun portraits to the iconic Blue Dog, his masterworks weave an extraordinary narrative and serve as a powerful testament to his perseverance and the deep impact he and his art have had on so many lives,” director Sean O'Malley said in a statement.

WLAE's one-hour documentary released in New Orleans by WLAE and released by Public Television in America, includes clips of Rodrigue's last interview, as well as interviews with characters like Rodrigue's family and former New Orleans Mayor Marc Marc Morial.

"'Blue' is a direct and personal portrait of my father and his groundbreaking work," said in a statement. "This documentary beautifully captures the visual evolution of his art, a deep love for Cajun culture, the rise of Blue Dog as a pop idol, and his unique position in American Art Stories. The father was - now - still - an idol, not only for Louisiana, but for the entire country."

Fox's Livenow has achieved its best quarter so far, with the service garnering 502 million views on YouTube during the first quarter.

Livenow said it beat CBS News (158 million views), ABC News (322 million) and NBC News (353 million).

"There are many options for mainstream script-wrapping news. Livenow has gone a different path. It is coverage of local power, scriptless and intentionally primitive," Jeff Zellmer, head of FTS Digital, said in a statement. "It's no surprise that this unique, live, event-driven approach works best on YouTube's fast-growing platform."
