Diaz said in his international duties with Colombia: "I'm very, very happy at Liverpool. They have made me feel very welcome since day one.

“Currently, we are contacting them because we are talking to (other) clubs. It’s normal, the market is open and we are trying to figure out what’s best for us.

“I’m just waiting to see what happens. If Liverpool didn’t make a good offer, I’m still two years away and I’d be happy and content to stay there.

“That’s it, it’s all obviously up to them, it’s up to me to decide what’s best for us and the future.”

Diaz is an important part of Liverpool's winning 13 goals and providing five assists last season.

The striker joined Anfield from Porto in January 2022, worth up to £49 million.

In all Liverpool games, he scored 41 goals in 148 matches, winning the Premier League, the FA Cup and two League Cups.

Sky Sports expert and former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher is unsure whether the Reds should offer new contracts for Colombia striker Luis Diaz

Jamie Carragher of Sky Sports spoke in early May:

“It’s an interesting guy and I think you can say with some people they want him to sign a new contract, and some people say it might be when you make money for him because he’s already at a good age, so they might sign a coin.

"I think Luis Diaz is one of the best left-wing players in the Premier League this season. I don't think he's very Sadio Mane, so I think Liverpool supporters are actually still thinking we haven't completely replaced Mane yet, but how many of them are there?

“If I tell the truth, then for most of the season, until Christmas, I think you sell Diaz in the summer.

"The way he plays and Liverpool's frontline may change, and in fact, he can play in the middle of the manager's eyes, he will stay now, and I think it's possible that other players will continue to move forward instead of Diaz."
