Following the breakout success of Boygenius in 2023 and a relatively sluggish 2024 for all three of its members, Lucy Dacus is the first member of the trio to officially announce the release of a solo album since her critically acclaimed 2021 " Home Video”’s first album. Her fourth independent effort, Forever Is a Feeling, will be released on March 28 on the Geffen label, followed by a month-long national tour in April and May.

The first video to promote the project is the single "Ankles," released today. In the film, Dacus wears a gorgeous red robe and causes a little havoc on the streets and subway of Paris, while actress and model Havana Rose Lui plays a security guard whose true role is Revealed in the final scene of the video.

Forever Is a Feeling will feature an all-star guest list, including the other two members of Boygenius, Phoebe Bridgers and Julian Baker, as well as Hozier, Madison Cunningham, Blake Mills, Bartees Strange, Jake Finch, Collin Pastore and Melina Du Delta.

The 13-city Forever Is A Feeling tour will begin on April 16 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Philadelphia and end on May 14 at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles. Other stops include performances at Radio City Music Hall on April 23, the Ryman in Nashville on April 29 and the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado on May 12.

Following 13 shows in April and May, Dacus has announced four sold-out shows in February, all taking place in more intimate venues and billed as "An Evening with Lucy Dacus" . She is expected to premiere more new works there, although the February 18-24 concerts precede the release of Forever Is a Feeling by more than a month.

Dacus' painting appears in the narration of the "Ankles" music video. A different painting of the singer appears on the new album cover, painted by artist Will St. John, depicting Dacus with the title emblazoned on her chest.

The announcement for the upcoming album promises "the richness of the album's sound is matched by a new candor in Dacus's approach to sex and romance...Sex in 'Ankle'"s” is still a fantasy – as in many songs, love doesn’t come easy and desire must be resisted – but the willingness to talk about it demonstrates a new forthrightness, a new, brave willingness to express desire.

“I was hit over the head with emotion,” Dacus described the process of writing the songs in 2022-24 in a press announcement. "Falling in love, falling out of love... you have to destroy things to create things. I did destroy a very good life."

Among the Boygenius members, Julien Baker is also expected to return soon and record a full-length country album with Torres; the single has already been released. Phoebe Bridgers has yet to release or announce any new music.
