The Brazil international strongly denied any misconduct, but the FA has accused him of playing against Leicester in November 2022, Leeds in May 2023 and Bournemouth in August last year.

If convicted, the FA is seeking a lifelong injunction. West Ham did not comment as it approached Sky Sports News. The FA has also been contacted for comment.

Sky Sports News Chief Reporter Kaveh Solhekol provided further details about the live hearing of Lucas Paqueta. Paqueta did not place bets, he denied any misconduct

The FA allegations state that Paqueta attempted to "influence the progress, behavior or any other aspect of these matches, or intentionally seeking to receive cards from referees, with the aim of affecting the betting market to enable one or more people to profit from the betting."

Paqueta is also charged with violating two violations of FA Rule F3 for failure to comply with the FA Rule F2, which is related to the provision of information and documentation.

"I was very surprised and frustrated that the FA decided to sue me.

“In the course of nine months, I have worked with every step of their investigation and provided all the information I can.

"I deny their full cost and compete for my name every time I breathe. Due to the ongoing process, I will not provide any further comments."
