Lewis Hamilton's radio exchange brings dramatic Miami F1 game
Play

Miami Gardens, Florida - Thanks Lewis Hamilton.

What you remember on Ferrari Radio is the 4th Miami Grand Prix, but who we still remember to win.

Oscar Pisatri has no offense - McLaren riders won four of six games in the 2025 F1 season.

The thing about this Miami game: Lando Norris fell behind his teammate Piastri in second place for nearly five seconds, 37 seconds ahead of Mercedes driver George Russell.

This is McLaren's blowout. Any exciting ending disappears like PiastriTh Circle - There are 43 laps to go.

Until Hamilton came back to laugh with racing engineer Riccardo Adami, his pace was through Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc, with about 10 laps left.

“It’s not a good teamwork — that’s all I can say,” Hamilton said as he stewed the back of Leclerc without guidance.

When Ferrari finally cleared Hamilton through a few laps later, he snapped up: "When you go and have tea - come on."

Ferrari then told Hamilton that Williams driver Carlos Sainz was behind him by 1.4 seconds - getting that - after he was asked to return his position to Leclerc.

"Do you want me to let him pass too?" Hamilton shouted on the radio.

After the game, Hamilton was happy and relaxed. He said he was even happy with finishing eighth in the eighth place (if you can trust the seven-time F1 title), while Leclerc finished seventh.

Hamilton told USA Today Sports: “I want to win.

“I won’t apologize for still wanting it, and I know everyone on the team does the same.”

Hamilton said he was not frustrated with Leclerc or Ferrari. His car didn't show his overall preference at all, but he felt "really alive" after the upper and middle tires. He could at least see McLaren in the distance. He thinks he has a chance to compete for at least sixth place.

"At least it's PG, right?" Hamilton said of his racial comments. "I don't know what you'll write - whether I don't respect or what..."

Oh no, Lewis. on the contrary.

Thanks.

If Hamilton's irony and wit didn't look at it from an entertainment perspective, the Miami Grand Prix race would end without climax.

The gap between Norris and Russell is so huge, Sky Sports analyst and former driver Martin Brundle said: "McLaren could have won another pit stop for that, but still had a 10-second victory.

It's also a difficulty for Formula One to stick to the U.S. range of attention, besides fans who have already spoken out to the sport.

This is far from a Miami issue. Miami Competition has become one of the best matches on the F1 calendar with a 10-year contract. The Miami Grand Prix postponed this week until 2041. The F1 presence in the United States passes through Miami, just like another F1 newcomer in Austin, Texas and Las Vegas.

The problem with F1, however, is that pure entertainment moments are rarely in between. Unless the novice fans are elevated to date viewers, it's easy to digest on social media clips rather than two hours of competition.

At the beginning of each game, there is a major conspiracy to be the start of round 1, where the teams are fighting in the front battle. Once the formation line is set, some drivers may surpass their struggling peers. Others will swap positions after attacking once or twice in the game.

Then, after the collision, there is a safety car. Some dramas will return when the game starts over. But if it comes up at the end of the race, that will make the drama attract more, as the leading driver just wins. Asked Norris, who won Saturday’s Miami Sprint Game and last year’s Miami Grand Prix in that way.

Hamilton won the sprint in China and finished third in the Miami sprint. But after his Grand Prix performance in his first season at Ferrari, the pressure grew.

He let 10Th In Australia, disqualified in China, ranked seventh in Japan, fifth in Bahrain, and again seventh in Saudi Arabia before Miami unfolded.

Hamilton, Lake Lake and Ferrari all appear to be in six games.

The unfolding drama is the best sports and reality TV.

Hamilton is absolutely fun.

"I could have said something worse on the radio. You heard what other people said in the past," Hamilton said.

"It's just your irony. You have to understand that we are under tremendous pressure in the car. You'll never get the most peaceful message in the heat of the battle. It's fun."

Leclerc added: "Lewis doesn't feel bad. What I understand is that he wants to try and optimize as much as I want to try and optimize the car."

After six games, Ferrari fell 152 points behind the builders' rankings. They also looked up at Mercedes and Red Bull.

Hamilton ranked seventh in the driver’s rankings, followed by Piastri (131), Norris (115), Verstappen (99), Russell (93), Leclerc (53) and his 18-year-old Mercedes replacement Kimi Antonelli (48).

Hamilton's elusive eighth title remains elusive this season. But he is working to have a chance to compete in the transition from Mercedes to Ferrari.

"I really believe we solved some of the problems we had with the car and we would go back to the fight...it wasn't going to be quick (enough) up," Hamilton said. "I was expecting maybe I could fight for the podium and be kind."
