Actor-director Daniel Auteuil and key collaborator on "Emilia Perez" Jean-Baptiste Pouilloux present their next feature in collaboration with Les Films Velvet, which opens this year's Unifrance Rendez-Vous in Paris with "The Musicians" and "The Musicians". The production company behind Musicians. Rebecca Zlotowski is about to release the thriller Vie Privée, starring Jodie Foster.
Following last year's Cannes Film Festival debut of the legal thriller "An Ordinary Case," Auteuil will step back from the camera in the World War II drama "One Night." Co-written by Auteuil and filmmaker Camille Rugen ("The Book of Joy"), the film follows the incredible 1942 rescue of more than 100 Jewish children from a deportation camp outside Lyon true story. Frederic Jouve of Les Films Velvet will serve as producer alongside Adrien Nussenbaum.
Pouillo is an in-demand assistant director who has worked closely with Jacques Audiard, Zlotowski and Nadav Lapid, and most recently helmed the Canal Plus series Iris before helming Emilia Perez's second unit. The filmmaker will make his feature debut with Merci Maman (Thanks, Mom), an irreverent comedy from Pugh about a mother who drags her son to couples therapy . The project is currently casting and is expected to go into production later this year.
Velvet is also gearing up to film Au Frais , the directorial debut of comedian Charlotte Gabris. Co-produced with Orta Films' Marine Alaric, the comedy tells the story of a 38-year-old woman who is abandoned by her boyfriend and then sent to Barcelona by her worried family to have her eggs frozen.
Next up, Velvet is developing new films from Thierry de Peretti (In His Own Image), Guillaume Renusson (White Paradise) and Farid Bentoumi (Red Earth), as well as the Amazon series Glam Squad." By Zlo Created by Tovsky and Olivier Nicklaus.
Almost all of the above-mentioned filmmakers have worked with Les Films Velvet, which makes Jouve proud that he believes above all in "nurturing" his own team of directors.
