With Reggie Miller's call, the Indiana Pacers paid tribute to their franchise legend Wednesday night.

Well, that's not a direct tribute - but the New York Knicks blew up a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter in the first Eastern Conference Finals final of the 21st century, against Indiana State in their first game 138-135.

New York leads with as many as 17 points, with only over six minutes, and even in 14 minutes, New York is less than three minutes, but this is not a match for the Pacers.

Aaron Nesmith trained six consecutive three-pointers to help Indiana cut the deficit to two points at 22.1 seconds. After the Knicks scored 1-2 from the line twice, Tyrese Haliburton hit a buzzer that he thought was a third and sent out Miller's infamous chopathy signal when pointing at him. But Haliburton's toes are online and the game starts overtime.

New York took a four-point lead, but the Pacers ran their first lead since 45-44 in the second quarter. Both teams took a lead over one point over the next two minutes until former Knick Obi Toppin slammed a house with 15.3 seconds left, up three points. The Knicks missed two three-pointers and the Pacers stole the victory.

Since 1998, the score above the playoffs has been 1,414-0 in the last minute of the fourth quarter or the last minute of the playoff game.

Similarly, the team is now 4-1,640 since 1997, when it was 7 points behind in the last minute of the fourth quarter or the last minute of the playoff game, while the Pacers won three games this season alone.

Unfortunately for the Knicks, it was the taste of their own medicine—they made a comeback against the Boston Celtics for 20, 20 and 14 points, winning the second round of the series.

Haliburton and Nesmith scored 31 and 30 points, respectively - Nesmith's 20 points appeared in that epic fourth quarter.

Jalen Brunson led by 43 points, while Karl-Anthony Town had 35 points and 12 rebounds, but didn't score their three-pointers in the final seconds.

The series was a rematch in last year's second round, with Indiana winning a injured Knicks in seven games, but it was also the Knicks facing both in the 1999 and 2000 Eastern Conference Finals - both of which teams assigned.

In fact, the Knicks and the Pacers faced each other four times in the 1990s playoffs, with both teams winning a pair. Both New York wins brought them to the NBA finals.

Now, the competition is hotter than ever. The second game is Friday night at Madison Square Garden.

And if the Knicks have any saving grace, they will win Miller's choke signal to hit their series.
