The Knicks can target "landmarks" players after they fail to reach the NBA finals in the offseason: reports originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The New York Knicks are crucial in their offseason after they don't make it to the NBA finals.
New York only scored two wins without the NBA finals as the Indiana Pacers were eliminated in the Eastern Conference Finals for six games.
While this isn't the season end the Knicks hoped, it's still a successful campaign as they joined Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges in the offseason to help them reach the conference finals for the first time since 2000.
Now, the Knicks are facing a critical offseason, especially next season, as they are one of the top teams in the East due to Jayson Tatum’s injury to the Boston Celtics.
So New York is in the best position to upgrade the roster and play the championship next season, and ESPN's Shams Charania doesn't rule out that they follow another star player.
"I was told that the Knicks had an internal meeting this week that could evaluate everything in the roster and they could make different changes in everything, especially the roster...whether it's the landmark players you can bring there or there's certainly going deep on that bench."

This is Charania's main report, and it's also a report that makes perfect sense in New York, although they do lack tradable assets, especially draft picks.
Of course, there may be multiple stars that may be moving during the offseason, while Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant associate them with the Knicks.
To get the Knicks to land another star next to Jalen Brunson, they may have to move on from town, bridge or OG Anunoby to land, but the potential new Big Three in New York may eventually push them to the championship next season.
If they decide not to follow another star, expect the Knicks to upgrade their depth to win the championship next year.
