Oscar and Emmy winner Kieran Culkin joins The Hunger Games: Sunrise in the Harvest to become the grand owner Caesar Flickerman. Stanley Tucci plays a role in the film's original quartet.
Culkin joins previously announced cast members Joseph Zada as Haymitch Abernathy, Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird, Mckenna Grace as Maysilee Donner, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, Maya Hawke as Wiress, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee, Lili Taylor as Mags, Ben Wang as Wyatt, Elle Fanning as Effie Trinkets and Ralph Fiens Fiennes) serves as President Snow. Mollymccann will also appear in Louella, while Iona Bell assigns her Capitol to the appearance of Lou Lou.
The new film is based on Suzanne Collins' novel of the same name, and was retried nearly a quarter of a century before the events of these films, with Woody Harrelson's Haymitch Abernathy serving as Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss Everdeen and Josh Hutcherson's Peeta Mellark.
In "Harvest Sunrise," Hemikey is the main character, as the action begins on the morning of Harvest 50th Hunger Games, known as Quell of the Second Quarter, where he enters the deadly arena.
"Kieran's snatch scene presence and undeniable charm are perfect for Caesar Flickerman, the disgusting master of Pam's darkest wonder. Stanley Tucci makes Caesar tucci unbearable, and now Kieran will make his character completely his own."
Culkin joined the franchise in his hottest winning streak in his long career. Earlier this year, Culkin collected the best support actor Oscars (and almost every other pioneering award) for his performances with Jesse Eisenberg compared to "real pain." He has been halfway into the EGOT status after winning the starring Emmy in his final season of HBO's "Succession". Culkin currently starred in Broadway with Bob Odenkirk and Bill Burr, selling out with the sold-out "Glengarry Glen Ross".
The movie's adaptation of the Hunger Games: Sunrise of Harvest will be released on November 20, 2026. Lawrence has been involved in every franchise since 2012's "Catch Fire" and will direct from Billy Ray's script adaptation. Color Force's Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson will be produced. Cameron MacConnomy will perform production. So far, the five movies in the franchise accounted for more than $3.3 billion in the box office.
"Harvest Sunrise" sold 1.5 million copies in the first week of its sale in the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The 1.2 million copies sold in the United States were the first week sale of “Songbirds and Snakes” and three times the first week sale of “Mockingjay.”
"Keeran's magnetism, wit and unpredictability make him a perfect fit for Caesar Flickerman," Jacobson said. "Hosiers like Caesar turn cruelty into entertainment, and actors like Kieran make sure we don't look away."
Meredith Wieck and Scott O'Brien are overseeing the Lionsgate project. Phil Strina negotiates a deal for the studio. Culkin is represented by WME, Brookside Artist Management and Relevance. The Hollywood Reporter reported his actor for the first time.
