Kate Hudson, Adam Brody launches the first Newport Beach TV Festival

Since its launch in 1999, the Newport Beach Film Festival has welcomed thousands of film producers to Orange County, California on June 5, and will kick off its first peer: Newport Beach TV Festival. The four-day event will be held at the Lido Theatre and the Port Theatre in the coastal city, promising to “celebrate the artistic and creative achievements of television.”

Together, industry professionals will celebrate TV shows of the year on radio and streaming to recognize talent in front and behind the camera.

"Television has never been dynamic, and as the storytelling landscape continues to evolve, the Newport Beach TV Festival is the natural next step in our journey," said Gregg Schwenk, CEO and Executive Director of the Newport Beach Film Festival. "For more than 26 years, we have advocated for visionary filmmakers, and now we are proud to expand our mission to celebrate the craftsmanship and creativity of contemporary television. Our Newport Beach House has long been a hub of creative excellence, and this festival will cement its position as the primary destination for the industry's smartest talents."

The festival is planned in the middle of the first phase of the Emmy Awards season, with “guild and television college voters held in voters outside of Los Angeles or New York.” So it makes sense that only top contenders can get recognition.
