Netflix has invested heavily in South Indian films with an ambitious slate of Tamil and Telugu films starring industry giants Kamal Haasan, Ajith Kumar, Suriya, Vijay Deverakonda and Pawan Kalyan.
The streaming giant unveiled its line-up during the auspicious festivals of Pongal and Sankranti, showcasing a slew of action blockbusters, thrillers and dramas that will hit theaters ahead of their streaming debuts.
There are nine films on the Tamil list: Mani Ratnam’s Thug Life, starring Kamal Haasan, Silambrasan , Trisha Krishnan (Trisha Krishnan) and Pankaj Tripathi (Pankaj Tripathi) starring; Ajith Kumar and Trisha Krishnan collaboration "Good Bad" Ugly" and "VidaaMuyarchi"; Suriya and Pooja Hegde's "Retro"; "Buffalo" starring Dhruv Vikram and Anupama Parameswaran; "Dragon" with Pradeep Ranganathan; Dulquer Salmaan and Bhagyashree Borse starrer Kaantha; with Vaibhav and social media star Niharika NM collaboration on “Perusu”; and an untitled Pradeep Ranganathan-Keerthiswaran project with Mamitha Baiju.
The Telugu line-up boasts nine major releases: Pawan Kalyan's "OG" with Emraan Hashmi; Vijay Deverakonda's "VD12"; Nani's "Hit 3 - The Third Case"; "Thandel" with Naga Chaitanya and Sai Starring Pallavi; Mass Jathara with Ravi Teja; Anaganaga Oka Raju with Naveen Polishetty; Priyadarshi's "Court: State vs. Nobody"; Sidhu Jonaragada's "Jack"; and Sangeeth Shoban's "Mad Square".

Devara, Guntur Kaaram", "Hi Nanna", "Lucky Baskhar", "Salaar" and "Saripodhaa" With blockbusters like "Sanivaaram" becoming some of the most popular films around the world, topping watch lists, trending on social media and winning over fans and critics, the excitement is building as we head into 2025."
Netflix’s continued acquisition of South Indian dramas reflects current trends at the Indian box office. In 2024, South Indian films accounted for six of the country's top ten box-office hits, including the top two, and captured 45% of the market share.
