Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he will host a party in Mallorca if the Premier League strips Manchester City of their title due to financial breaches.
Klopp's Liverpool have twice finished second behind Guardiola and his all-conquering Manchester City side, first in 2018-19 and second in 2021-22.
The Premier League referred Manchester City to an independent commission in February 2023 to deal with 115 alleged breaches of financial rules between 2009 and 2018. The club has always denied any wrongdoing.
In his first public appearance as Red Bull's global head of football, Klopp was asked how he would react if the committee found City guilty and removed the league champions from the honors list.
"We had this discussion when I left," Klopp said. "I don't spend much time in Mallorca because I'm always flying in and out of the place. But if it does happen, I tell everyone who wants to (come): 'Just book a flight to Mallorca.' A flight to Isla Lorca will do. I’ll buy a beer! We’ll have our own parade in my garden.”
The German coach added that he had not followed the details of the hearing, which began last September, and that he did not know when the ruling was due.
Klopp was also questioned about the ongoing contract saga surrounding three key Liverpool players during his tenure.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are all out of contract at the end of the season, with Klopp's successor Arne Slott regularly at the press conference Ask about the future of the trio.
Klopp joked: "I'm glad I don't have to be in charge of the situation and answer these questions every week."
"I hope all three of them get extensions. They don't tell me what's going on. When Virgil goes from 41 to 44, I'm sure he'll be happy to play for New York... I'll welcome him with open arms." he. "
Klopp told a news conference that he wanted Salah to stay at the club, calling him Liverpool's greatest striker of the modern era and launching into a tirade about this summer's FIFA Club World Cup.
"I think it's useless. If you don't have summer vacation, it doesn't help," he said.
"Whoever wins the tournament is the worst winner ever because he has to play the whole summer before the league starts again. There are a lot of injuries in European football right now."
"We have to reduce the number of games. That means in some leagues it would be better to have 18 games instead of 20. It means in other competitions you don't increase the number of games."
