(This story contains spoilers for Season 6, Episode 6 The story of the maid"surprise.")
There are signs that the senior commander Wharton was not the kind person he foreshadowed, it was Serena Joy. The story of the maid.

I'm so happy to talk to you because you're scared in this show!
You have more to see.
I want to go back and ask how the role of Gilead's senior commander comes to you. Have you auditioned? Have they looked for you?
I attended the FX Show with Lizzie valley. We had a very enjoyable time so she gave me the role. She sent me a lovely email saying, “I hope you bring your work to this role.” It’s early on, they’re still working on it (Season 6), so she wants to talk about it. I had some email conversations with her and met with (co-demonstrators) Eric (Tuchman) and Yahlin (Chang) and talked about the script and overall arc of the characters. I said: This is what I want to do with him. He was a man, as they described him, a little exuding power, but wearing velvet gloves. I want the flame under that velvet glove. That's the idea behind my character. He is obviously a true believer. He is a true believer of Gilead. But hopefully his cruelty will become more intense because of his kindness.
How much or how much do you followers cost The story of the maid When will you come in?
I haven't seen it because I haven't seen anything. I don't even look at my own stuff. I watch sports, some comedy and historical performances. But my wife really liked the show and I knew it. So when Lizzie sent it to me, I got the whole thing in my arms. It is conceivable that this is a two-week intense carnival. When the kids fell asleep, I sat on the couch and watched as many episodes as possible every night. The show struck me very much - not even being timely, obviously plaguing - but writing, acting, photography. The whole range of the show is such a movie. The weather even plays a role. It's everything; attention to details. I thought, “This is a part of what I really want to be.”
I will tell you the truth. This is not the phone I usually want to make. I don't usually want to go to a show in the last season because that can be incredibly embarrassing and a lot of mines. But because of Lizzie, because of the quality of the show, because of the quality of the cast - I know Bradley (Whitford), I just really like all the cast on the show - and it's because of Lizzie, because I trust her (I say yes). She is completely right. I welcomed me with open arms. It's an incredible, not only talented person, but just loved ones: Max (Minghella), Yvonne (Strahovski), Ever (Carradine), Bradley, and of course Lizzie. Just as dark as the material sometimes, I had absolutely incredible time with this group. I'm really happy to be a part of it and help complete the story and come to the conclusion.
Commander Gilead usually does not show any kindness. That's what makes Walton unique. He has a light and dark side. We saw his dark hints early on, and he showed off his episode with Nick. How real is he to Serena's lightness? Is he a tormented character, wanting some kind person, or is he perceived as lightweight for his dark service?
This is not a direct manipulation. I think it's more about his right to return Gilead to it. That's what I feel: out of his true beliefs, his feelings. Therefore, his love and desire for Serena is given to him as a husband. A family lacks a hole. He is so attached to his daughter Rose, which is why he enters the narrative this year: He comes to check her out. He is a very good, loving father. But with this missing work, this is the family he wants.
So instead of covering up the bad guys, I made a difference to it. I see it more about who he is and what his values are. He shouldn't be with Serena, right? But he was attracted to her. It's like Achilles' heels. He can do nothing. He desperately needs this. This is a conflict between push and pull. He should probably be someone who is more in line with his own values with others, but he is attracted to her and when you worship and be fascinated by such a person, you may go against your better judgment or values. He didn't want to do that, but he couldn't do anything about it. For me, it's really fun.
You can call his proposal romantic. He told Serena: I want you to read. I want you to write. I want you to make a sound. His opinion of what she wanted was introduced to her. Is that real?
It is following the constant push and pull of his feelings about the true believers of the Gilead world. He is also a person who really desires power, which is my own personal feeling. I won't project it onto a writer, but when you consider his needs and desires, he's a senior commander in Washington, D.C., and he's the top echelon of the Gileadean chain. I think his desire is to become a leader - to become this Leader. When you see it as a perspective, he reignites his torch to Serena that cannot be extinguished, it's about having these two people do it together at the same time. He is so charming and charming that he is doing things he probably shouldn't have done.
My hope is that you will see a man more complicated than being an evil guy hiding everything, because it seems too easy. What's even more interesting is the nuance of a very lonely person who longs for a family. When his wife passed away, what he wanted was something he had taken from him. It's about juxtaposition. The power of search and desire is not always synchronized, right? I think it would be fun to see a guy who is very strong but very vulnerable and very nervous when proposing to her.
How does it feel to be a scene partner for this Gileadean with Yvonne Strahovski romantic?
Like everyone on the show, Yvonne did embrace and welcome me. She is such a cute person, a cute actor, and she is very beautiful and very easy to fall in love with the screen. I'm glad I've worked on this job and gained this experience. I did a lot of shows myself and you realize-these guys have been doing this show for about a decade. It's been two years since the pandemic and then strike and Liz (with kids). These guys have been together for a long time and it's really daunting. I've been doing it for a while, but I'm nervous. You want to do a good job. I was as prepared as possible and I absolutely loved this group. It's a really fun, enthusiastic and collaborative group of people, which is cool.
