James Brolin has lived a ranch life for years, joked that his son, Josh Brolin, "basically grew up as a tauren."
"Ransom Canyon" actor told Fox News Number Not growing up on the farm, but growing up he was a big fan of Roy Rogers and Gene Autry, and as an adult, he got his first horse.
It was his former Palomino Parade Horse, who bought it for $235 at auction and was "almost dead", but Brolin soon realized that he had nowhere to put the animals and therefore had to sleep in his garage for one night.
"It started to slide," he said. "So the next day I found a house with corrals and everything. The next thing I knew was that I bought a six acre place with six horses on it."

Brolin said in the second year of the 1967-1976 series "Marcus Welby, MD" that he moved to a 270-acre ranch in central California, shooting four hours north of the show at Universal Studios in Los Angeles.
"I'm four hours away from get off work, but I did, I love that life. Josh was actually raised as a horn," he said of his 57-year-old actor Son.

Brolin said when Universal Pictures found out he had left Los Angeles, they gave him a small house to live in many places when he was on site.
“They said we let you use it now, but we also incorporate your work into three or four days, so you can go home,” he explained.

The 84-year-old is in the familiar territory on his new Netflix show "Ransom Canyon," a western comparison to "Yellowstone" about three Texas ranch dynasties.
Brolin said he played a drunk man who spits out “blasphemy” and is angry at the world of losing his son and wife. ”
The veteran actor said he heard from people that they felt the "pain, his strength" of his character Fuller.

Brolin wanted the character to be “real, people can’t wait to think of his next scene,” he told Fox News numbers, adding: “I think I’m kind of getting there.”

The series was shot in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and he said “not my wife’s style, but I can live there.”
Brolin also praised his "National Not to Old Man" actor Son as "the most attentive father I've ever met."
Josh shared his two children with his first wife, Alice Adair, and two children - Trevor, 36, and Eden, 31, Westlyn, 6, and Church, 4, with his current wife, Kathryn Boyd.

Brolin, along with late actress Jane Cameron Agee's Josh and 53-year-old daughter Jess, also shared with 37-year-old daughter Molly.

"In our business, you're not always there," Brolin admitted. "I was surprised by the benefits there. I envy him in a way that I'm not like that - kids are first, jobs are second. He made sure his boss knew that before he got a job."
Brolin said he did his best to put the kids first as he grew up. “ rJoined my kids on camping trips and stuff like that. ”
Brolin said he also admired his two youngest granddaughters.
“It's a great time in life, they may be a little spoiled, but man, how much family and fun they have. ” he said.

Brolin has been married to legendary singer and actress Barbra Streisand since 1998.
When asked about his lasting marriage to the “Funny Girl” star, Brolin smiled and said, “You practiced the first one.” “It’s a joke, but maybe not.”

"You know when you can take a walk outside and don't stay in the hot situation," he said of marriage. "Don't try to win arguments... The world is not one person's fault. That's it. Sometimes, if you just take a breath between each other, I'm not saying the problem, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I'm just walking outside through the pool, love nature, and then back to myself and then like, 'Oh, that's a weird little argument.

He also advises treatment for "ongoing issues."
"It's a good thing to sit down and talk about it," Brolin said. "In fact, it's nice to sit down with a professional who plays the referee. It's awesome thing."
