Jon M. Chu, Ang Lee, Megan Thee Stallion received memorial in 2025's Gold Gala

A golden evening commemorating the annual ritual of entertainment and cultural tastes in Asia Pacific returns to downtown Los Angeles Saturday night.

The dinner dinner brought several high-profile guests to Jerry Moss Plaza in the Music Center, a warm evening (from James Beard’s award-winning chef Lord Maynard Llera), performances (including one from Honoree Laufey) and community.

Actor Daniel Dae Kim started a brief introduction at the night, highlighting the night’s main nail: The Golden House’s A100 list, which celebrates the most culturally influential Asian Pacific delicacies in various industries that year. Director Jon M. Chu was the first winner of the night, presented the A1 Entertainment Award by Janet Yang, president of the School of Film Arts and Sciences, actor Harry Shum Jr. and performer Hayley Kiyoko.

"Some movie producers are making movies, and then there are movie producers making art, and then both do that, transporting us to a world we never thought of, while at the very bottom of our souls, our humanities. Jon M. Chu is one of those film producers," Young told the crowd.

"Jon, I've been following you since your USC student days, when you made an incredibly mature short film that caught everyone's attention, including Steven Spielberg. I'll keep track of you until you win your own Oscar," she added.

Chu Detached the stage evilThe iconic battle song "Defying Gravity" is immediately thanked for Yang's years of support and Gold House founder Bing Chen. Chu recalled his decision Crazy Rich Asians For screens, call the ensemble “the best damn Asian Avengers we can find.” The director thanks the API community for supporting the blockbuster romantic comedy.

Chu said to the audience: "We are no longer just guests at the table, we are building a damn house. Guess what? It's made of gold." Director Ang Lee won two awards of the night, and the winners of "Gold Generation Honor" and "Gold Generation Honor" won the Oscar. Squat tiger, hidden dragon. The legendary director noted that he was moved by the award from a young Asian filmmaker. “I’m not ready to pass the torch,” he joked to the young filmmaker. “You just have to work harder.”

Lee points out that he never thought he would make a movie in the United States, but for the past 35 years he has been working hard and focusing only on the movies he is making. He said looking back over the past three and a half decades, he realized how far his loneliness and community have come. “I’m very lonely when I’m here, but looking at you, the filmmaker, all the things you do,” he said. “I’m proud of this celebration of Asian creativity, our hearts and most importantly our voice.”

Singer Laufey, director and star Moana 2Olympians Suni Lee, Lee Kiefer, Torri Huske and Chuck Aoki, Tech CEO Aravind Srinivas, musician Anderson .Paak, Pokemon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara, authors Min Jin Lee, Rapper Megan Megan, Rapper Megan Thee Stallion and La Wildlife Stallion and La Wildlife Origity also held honors on Saturday night.
