House Speaker Mike Johnson told Fox News Friday that during the coronavirus pandemic, Democrats pushed hockey agents to reveal their “people who have been wearing masks for many years in the United States.”
Fox News asked Johnson to be "a few Democrats, including (Hakeem) leader (Hakeem) Jeffries, to recommend that ice sheet agents arresting some of these immigrants should not wear masks."
"It's ridiculous from people who have been wearing masks for years in the U.S.," Johnson said. "They need to back down, respect our agents, and stop protesting them," he said. "They are trying to uphold the rule of law and they don't want to be targeted by Democratic activists. So, I agree with any agreement."
Jeffries said Tuesday that ice sheet agents who tried to cover up "their identity of the American people" would have been unsuccessful in doing so.

Then, Johnson was asked Friday, “So when these agents arrest immigrants, can you still identify yourself?”
"Why? So they can target them?" he replied. “So they can put their names and faces online and reach them? That’s what these activists do. So we have to protect those who protect our community.
"It's ridiculous for anyone, a member of Congress or any other elected leader, calling for ICE because they try to do their jobs. They make it hard for them to do it for years, and I just think it's obviously ridiculous."
During Friday’s weekly press conference, Fox News asked Jeffries if he was concerned that it might cover up the safety of some ice sheet agents or their families.
"In my opinion, DHS officials (including ICE) should be the same as the rest of the law enforcement department in terms of transparency," said Democrats in New York.

About Jeffries’ official X account, he wrote in September 2020: “It’s not that complicated. Wear. A. Mask.”
Then about a year later, in August 2021, Jeffries said: "Get vaccinated. Wear a mask. Crush the virus."
Two Democratic Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine from Virginia also wrote a letter last month to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, agent ice company Todd Lyons and other senior officials, as well as other recent immigration enforcement actions regarding ICE, for a "shocking and dangerous twist."
Nationally and in Virginia, masked ice officers and agents have no clear identification because law enforcement has been arresting individuals on the streets and sensitive locations. These actions put everyone in danger - targeted individuals, ice officers, ice officers, and potentially misunderstandings about what happened and what could happen, possibly attempting to intervene. ” they said.

"We direct ice officers and agents to quickly and clearly identify themselves as law enforcement officers in law enforcement lawsuits when arresting subjects and to limit the use of facial cover in arrests and other law enforcement actions to avoid intimidation and reduce safety risks to the public," the senator added.
In August 2021, Kaine also pushed a mask wearing a mask, writing in a Facebook post that he was “very concerned about the rapid rise of the Covid-19 Delta variant we see in the Commonwealth”, “We should do everything we can to help stop the spread of the virus and maintain a good attitude on the CDC, including publicity on the CDC, such as powering it, for example, powering it, and socially powering it.
"People, let's continue to protect ourselves by getting vaccinated, masking and social distancing so we can safely return to all the activities we love," Warner added at the time.
