“My heart and deepest compassion are to Jeff’s wife Cori; his children Carly, Sam and Jackson and everyone who knows and loves him.

Sperbeck's family also issued a statement.

"We are very sad to share the death of our beloved Jeff Sperbeck. He is an excellent father, husband, brother, son and friend of many, and all will miss it deeply." As a family, we are sad with our dearest friend Elway and many other clients who Jeff calls friends.

“We appreciate the overwhelming support we have received during this difficult time and ask our families to provide you with privacy.”

The Riverside County Coroner's Office confirmed that Speebeck died early Wednesday at the Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs just days after the accident Saturday in La Quinta. Sperbeck is 62.

TMZ reported earlier Wednesday that Elway drove a golf cart and Sperbeck fell and hit his head on asphalt. After the accident, Speybeck was supported by his life.

ESPN said Speybeck was sitting in the passenger seat of the golf cart.

According to TMZ, the Riverside County Sheriff's Office conducted an investigation and there was no sign that Elverock was driving a golf cart.

Sperbeck first became Elway's manager in 1990 and represented hundreds of NFL players through multiple agencies.

Some of his other clients include Hall of Fame Ronnie Lott and Jim Plunkett.

In 2015, Elway and Sperbeck founded 7cellars, a company that produces premium wines from Central California and Napa Valley.
