Jimmy Butler's demand for Steve Kerr in the playoffs has attracted attention

In many ways, the Golden State Warriors’ season, not to mention their hopes for the fifth NBA title in the Stephen Curry era, will come down to Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals on Monday.

They dragged two Minnesota Timberwolves games into the series and have been working to put points on the board since Curry was out of the first game due to hamstring pressure. They scored only 93 points in Game 2 blowout loss and 97 points in Game 3, and even if they won the championship in Game 1, they failed to reach the century mark.

Jimmy Butler tried to put Golden State on his back in Game 3, and head coach Steve Kerr said he would have to balance his need to ride with his need for rest. But according to Kerr, Butler wants to play every minute.

Steve Kerr said the Warriors will continue to balance the need to get Jimmy Butler there every minute while trying to find the rest he needs. Butler played 43 times in Game 3, Kerr said he was frustrated every second on the bench: "He wants to be 48."

Fans reacted to Kerr's comments on X.

"If he wanted to kick him 48," one fan wrote. "It's been too much, and the series is extended. So he's going to be more tired. Em gives a chance to win. Denver-OKC looks like it's going to be in 7."

"Steve Kerr needs everyone to strengthen the score so Jimmy doesn't have to be on the court," another fan wrote. "Yes, we might have a rest curry, but we don't want Jimmy to run out of gas in the process."

Butler scored 33 points and 9 innings from 12 in Game 3 on Saturday. He also added 7 rebounds and 7 assists and played for 43 minutes.

However, as Golden State's overall offense dries, he scored 7 points and 1 point in the fourth quarter. It scored 31 points in the third quarter, but then it scored just 24 points as the Timberwolves got control and won 102-97.

Forward Jonathan Kuminga scored 30 points on the bench and guard Buddy Hield scored 14 points, but the Warriors need everyone to go all out to combine the series with Game 4 wins.

Curry is expected to be until at least Game 5, and more realistically until Game 6.
