Jez Butterworth, Peter Straughan and Jack Thorne write down four movies by Sam Mendes

Sam Mendes' four Beatles biopics found the writer.

Tony Award winner Jez Butterworth ("Ford v Ferrari," "Spectre"), Academy Award winner Peter Straughan ("Conclave," "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy") and BAFTA and Tony Award winner Jack Thorne ("Adolscence," "Enola Holmes") are set to write the screenplays for the four theatrical films from Sony Pictures and Neal Street Productions.

The film is the first of Apple Corps Ltd. and The Beatles – John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr – granting a scripted film full life story and music rights.

Mendes conceived and will direct these four films, each intersecting from the perspective of another band member to tell the story of the iconic band.

The films will feature Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, Paul Mescal, Paul McCartney and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.

Sony Pictures will provide funding and distribution globally in April 2028.

"The Beatles - Four Movie Movie Events" is a Neal Street work, working with Sony Pictures' Apple Corps.

Mendes is working with his Neal Street work partner Pippa Harris and Julie Pastor of Neal Street. Alexandra Derbyshire ("Wonka") is also in production.
