Jet Li, Chow Yun-Fat Movie Leads Hong Kong Film Classic Records

In the main gospel of action movie lovers and physical media collectors, shout! Studios is launching a new entertainment tag dedicated to restoring Hong Kong movie classics.

The Hong Kong Film Classic Series will focus on a treasure trove of Hong Kong film masterpieces, starting with the June digital 4K release and then expanding to a definite version of the physical media.

This move is behind the shouting! Studios bring global rights (excluding certain Asian territories) to the coveted Golden Princess Film Library.

Digital promotion begins on June 24, and the label's first physical release will be "Jet Li Collection", a 10-dish 4K UHD + Blu-ray box that arrives until July 29. This comprehensive set features groundbreaking Hong Kong movies of five martial arts superstars, the groundbreaking Hong Kong movie: "The Legendary Fist" Beijing. "The luxurious collection includes new interviews, audio reviews, retro features and more special features.

The Hong Kong Film Classic Initiative focuses on influential Hong Kong action films from the 1980s and 1990s, a period known for its exciting action choreography, unique visual style and emotional storytelling. Many of these titles have been dormant and impressed for decades outside of Asia.

For this new line, shout! Studios has partnered with the Hong Kong Film Archives to re-create and restore many titles and scan 4K from the original camera negative volume with recovered video and audio as well as newly translated subtitles.

John Woo's "Boil" (starring Chow Yun-Fat and Tony Leung Chiu-wai and Ringo Lam's "City Fire" (starring Chow Yun-Fat, Sun Yueh and Danny Lee) will be launched digitally on June 24. July 22. The digital version continues with Tony Ching's "Chinese Ghost Story" trilogy on August 5, and "Head Bullet" on August 19.

On the physical media side, the “Jet Li Collection” box set will be launched on July 29, followed by “City On Fire” on August 26 and “Peking Opera Blues” on September 23, both of which are 4K UHD + Blu-Ray Combo Packs. The series will be numbered for collectors, with five Jet Li movies designated HKCC#1-5, “City On on Fire” as HKCC#6, and “Peking Opera Blues” as HKCC#7.

call! Studios plans to continue to release Hong Kong movie classics in these initial products beyond digital and physical formats.
