Jennifer Lawrence has been released through the world premiere of "Die, My Love", the latest directorial work of renowned Scottish filmmaker Lynne Ramsay. The movie received 6 minutes of applause Follow the world premiere. "Die, my love" is competing in Cannes and competing for Palme d'Or.
Ramsay shortened his clapping, full of emotion.
"Wow. I'm overwhelmed. Thanks to these great actors. I have to be together and I'll see you in a minute," she said, breaking into the aisle and walking out of the palace.
In the movie, Lawrence and Pattinson prove to be worthy opponents, struggling with emotional forgetting in the nervous portrait of Ramsey. The Cannes crowd responded to the violence of Lawrence's self-inflicted-smashed her head into a mirror, jumped over the glass pane and scraped the wall until her fingers bleed.
"Die, My Love" is based on the 2017 novel of the same name by author Ariana Harwicz, which focuses on the center of a new mother who enters psychiatric after developing postpartum depression. Oscar winner Lawrence starred in Ramsay's film, with Robert Pattinson playing her husband. The couple's marriage is in chaos amid the struggle for his wife's mental health. Ramsey's support cast includes Lakeith Stanfield, Sissy Spacek and Nick Nolte. The film has no US publisher yet, but it will certainly be a big sales champion at the Cannes Film Festival.
Ramsay is a veteran of Cannes, and each of her five feature films premiered at the festival. Her 1999 debut "Ratcher" premiered in a certain aspect of the festival and went on to win the BAFTA Awards for Outstanding First appearance by a British writer, director or producer. Ramsay returned to Cannes in 2021 with the director's two weeks with "Movern Callar". She made her Cannes debut in 2011, with Tilda Swinton-led "We Need to Talk about Kevin" before returning to the game in 2017 with "You Never Really Here." That film won the Cannes Award for Best Screenplay and Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix. "Die, My Love" was Ramsey's first director in eight years.
Lawrence also produced "Die, My Love," who attended the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and is the producer of the documentary Bread and Roses, which premiered in a special screening section, but Ramsay's film marks the first time Lawrence has found himself in the Cannes competition. She made her debut at festivals such as Venice ("Mother!") and Tiff ("Silver Linings Playbook"), and later won an Oscar for Best Actress). Pattinson is a regular at Cannes, with his likes of "Good Times", "Good Times", "To the Stars" and "Lighthouse" and "Lighthouse" joining in his Cannes premiere list.
