In 2015, Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill, founders of film financing and production company Black Label Media, Trent Luckinbill, and Thad Luckinbill, appeared as producers on "Sicario". (“There is no more premiere in the world than the Cannes premiere,” Smith told type In the decade since, the company evolved from a fledgling outfit to a major player, arriving at Croisette with Lynne Ramsay’s highly anticipated “Die, My My Love” starring Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson.

“We just watched the business change a lot, but at the same time, it almost felt the circle,” Smith said. “Indie movies and the way we put the movies together at the beginning felt like going all out.”

Trent Luckinbill added: "We started out as a filmmaker-oriented company and we were lucky to be working with names like Denis Villeneuve and Jean-Marc Vallée. We didn't change that mission. We kept sticking with guns because of how we motivated to make movies."

The company’s honors include “Devotion” (directed by JD Dillard), “I Want to Dancing with Someone” (directed by Kasi Lemmons), “Only Joseph Kosinski) and “Demolition” (directed by Jean Marc Vallée). Black Label also co-funded and executive producers with Lionsgate to win the Oscar-winning “La La Land.”

The Black Label hit "Die, My Love" during the script stage. Martin Scorsese discovers Ariana Harwicz's debut novel in 2017 - about a woman who just had a child and was swallowed by love and madness, whose husband looks forgotten - and passes it on to him and Jennifer Lawrence's manager Rick Yorn; Lawrence and her amazing corpse partner Justine Ciarrocchi developed the project and had a conversation with Ramsay, before Pattinson signed on to play Lawrence's husband.

"That's a big book, and the first draft distilled it into a story where someone can get into a powerful show like Jen," said Trent Luckinbill. "It takes a lot of courage to play this role. It has to be a fearless person."

and Lawrence delivered. So far, everyone who has watched the movie has avoided it, "God, she's fine!" Thad Luckinbill is in trouble. "She has always been a movie star, but she's in her own league."

Luckinbill notes that the strength of Black Label Media as an independent financing studio is their ability to quickly grow rapidly on projects we fall in love with — with or without distribution partners. "Packaging is usually the part that slows us the most," he said, but Lawrence paired with Pattinson is a dream combination.

"That's a cool story in itself - they grew up in the similarities of 'Twilight-'Hunger Games' and never worked together. So, we love packaging." "And then, we just followed our wish lists like Sissy Spacek, Nick Nolte and Lakeith Stanfield. The pieces are really good, and it's a proof of the script and Lynne because everyone knows what she can do."

The project was filmed in Calgary from August to October last year and they quickly tracked the post-review in hopes of sending it to Cannes. After an official press conference on April 10, "Die, My Love" was a late member of the game's lineup.

"Linn is Cannes' darling," said Trent Luctinbeer. “So, in our minds, we thought, ‘God, wouldn’t it be great if we can do this work in time?’ We certainly had to push to make it shape, hopefully we can pull it apart and thank God for what we did.”

Smith quipped that lucky audiences will be screened "as fresh as possible" in the palace on Saturday night, noting that Ramsey entered the final mix within 48 hours before our interview. Now, the film is finally ready to showcase to moviegoers and potential buyers.

"We know that when we get this script, we won't try to buy it in advance for release," Smith said. "Calculus is just your gut. We know we have to do this independently. We're not going to insert the actor B or C keys here to hit the numbers. But because this is Jen and Lynne Ramsay, they're the event in themselves, and we (we decided to) believe in our intuition to do it as economically as possible."

So, generally speaking, who is their hope for "death, my love" Houhaguchi?

"I do think this movie - of course it's a movie like this actor and Lynne Ramsay - should get the theater and hopefully it finds an audience that wants to enjoy it in the theater," Smith said. "But all the options are on the table because that's how we have to do this business right now, right?"

Trent Luckinbill hopes to do a great job that will help it stand out. “When we look at potential projects, you ask that question: “Is this a drama release? Is it a ribbon? Or hybrid? "With "death, my love", it's finding the right partner.
