Jayce does not allow Saturday's goal, scheduled to enter last week of the season - Jamestown Sun

Jamestown - Jamestown Rotary Club scored more fans outside on Saturday.

About 60 fans bravely watched the Jamestown Women's Football Team beat Bismarck High 5-0 with a 5-0 shooting percentage. Jays finished the year 6-0-2 at home, and overall, the team beat 9-2-2. Jamestown will hold a second-lasting regular season at Bismarck Legacy on Tuesday. The game is scheduled to start at 8 p.m.

"We felt really good in the last second high against Minot Thursday," said JHS head coach Colton Altringer.

Jayce played Bismark Gaogao last time, which was a single-point game.

"Today, we're more confident in the last third, we found a lot of space and attracted defenders," Otlinger said. "When they defended us (last time) they played a lot of balls in the middle and closed the space, so it's about finding open space to stick out and stretching them out, and then we can create numbers and find open players in the middle of the goal."

Hannah and Haley Attleson are important reasons why Jays scored.

Haley has been on the college roster since the 2022 season, while Hannah views time as an eighth grader and freshman, but it’s not until she enters her first full-time college season. The sisters have been playing football for the past decade.

"Our parents-they let us play," Hannah said with a smile. “We didn’t really like it at first—we threw a lot of the right people.”

"I remember the first game when I was 5, my mom had to drag me to the field because I was scared, so I was bawked."

Although Hannah was just a sophomore and Haley was a junior, the team named them captains earlier this year.

"I've looked at these two over the last few years and I think they're really good leaders," Alterlinger said. "They're really their own this year. As a coach, I know their leadership is there and just need to blossom more and have it this year.

"They don't speak out like Ellie Krueger," he said. "They are more of a silent leader - they'll say what they have to, not much anymore. Their work rate is a second-rate. Both sisters have a high work rate, and I think that also inspires a lot of players. These two people live together as centers, together, they're our rock band, and they're back there. Nine times beat you, they'll beat you, I don't worry about them, they're upset about them."

Being a captain is not any of the radars.

Hannah said, “I’m very young because I’m young. I'm not really. I think they chose us (become the captain) because we were both behind and many of our roles were leaders. We have to make sure everyone is doing their jobs in the field and communicating with everyone. ”

Hailey said, “I’m so happy to be captain with my sister.”

Hannah scored three goals and five assists for a total of eight points, while Haley added three points to the scorebook.

"I'm just finding teammates," Hannah said. "They got a lot of benefits for the many free kicks I'm going to take out, and then I can shoot wherever I can."

Belle Sjostrom unveiled Jays' four-minute performance for 59 seconds. The sophomore goal then scored by the Atelson sisters and Greselin Challen, giving Jayce a 4-0 midway point.

Hannah got her second point the next day five minutes later in the second half. Sophomore received assists with Hadley Jackson's goal.

“It’s huge for us,” Otlinger said with five different goal scorers. "When it comes to our three games, and then another busy week in state games, we're going to need everyone. We can't rely on two or three to score or lead the team -- it's going to be a comprehensive team effort. All girls on the college roster have to go chips in one way or another."
