Jake Tapper's Biden Book fails to increase CNN's viewership

CNN host Jake Tapper has the lowest ratings in May's nearly decade, although the Tornado Promotion Tour has brought him attention.

Tapper and Axios journalist Alex Thompson’s new book, Primitive Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Covering and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again. The book has helped the recent news cycle, a new charge from Biden’s White House that hides the truth about the former president’s office fitness.

To facilitate the project, Tapper embarked on an extensive book journey, bringing him on a variety of podcasts, talk shows and cable news. The book is also ruthlessly promoted in CNN, but the focus on Tapper seems to have failed to get him to ratings.

From April 28 to May 25, the "Leader with Jake Tapper" averaged 525,000 viewers, with CNN's audience accounting for 25% of CNN's audience from the same period last year.

By comparison, from April 28 to May 25, Fox News released the "Five" and "Special Report with Bret Bayer" averaged 3.3 million viewers.

MSNBC also beat the Tapper of Tot Total viewers, as programming on progressive networks averaged over one million viewers in the time segment. As a result, Tapper accounts for only 11% of the share of the wire news audience, while MSNBC manages 21% over the time frame and Fox News directs 68%.

This is Tapper's lowest rating month since August 2015.

"The Leader with Jake Tapper" is also lower than last year's demographics for adults aged 25-54. From April 28 to May 25, Tapper's news broadcast averaged only 95,000 viewers, a 15% drop.

"Leadership with Jake Tapper" isn't the only CNN fight, as the network has its second poor month in its total days and prime time demos.

While Tapper's efforts to promote "primitive sin" didn't help ratings, CNN hosts made headlines by admitting he wasn't actively enough to cover Biden's age issues and announced that the mental decline of the former president might be worse than Watergate.

When commenting, CNN noted that Nielsen media research only reflects CNN's audience in the U.S., but Tapper's plan to air on other platforms.

A CNN spokesman told Fox News Digital: "Jake Tapper, the main character of the award-winning program, has attracted a wide audience around the world on CNN, CNN International and Max's streaming platforms.
