Jaff Market as the second edition of Indonesian film platform

The Jogja-netpac Asian Film Festival (JAFF) is processing the second edition of the Jaff Market at the Jogja Expo Center in Yogokata.

The industry platform returned at a successful inauguration in 2024, attracting 6,700 participants from 19 countries, with 151 exhibition booths and facilitating 63 business deals totaling approximately 36 billion ($2.2 million). The event is part of the 20th anniversary celebration of Jaff, and is one of the leading film festivals in the Asia-Pacific region.

Jaff Market is rooted in Jaff’s long-term commitment to champion Asian independent films,” said Jaff Festival Director ifa Isfansyah. “Now, we expand our vision by building an industry-oriented space to meet today’s needs, which helps Indonesian stories thrive and compete globally. ”

The second edition maintains six core programs designed to activate creative value chains: Jaff Future Project for Project Incubation, Content Markets for IP Display and Business Confrontation, Talent Day for Emerging Talents, Film and Market Conferences for Industry Dialogue, Market Screening for Private Buyer Screening, and Film Labs for Project Development Symposiums.

The 2025 edition will showcase 12 movies in three days at the Jaff Future Project to include the Indonesian element of Asia-Pacific participants. The content market will showcase 10 IPS adaptation opportunities, while Talent Day continues its partnership with Netflix to continue working with major industry players.

Film Lab opens five selected development phase projects with a focus on international joint production opportunities targeting the first or second functional directors. Film & Market Conference partners are once again with Aprofi (Indonesia Filmmakers Association) covering topics ranging from talent and creativity to financing, innovation and regulations.

"The government sees the Jaff market as a key partner in driving sustainable growth in the film industry. The platform brings together industry players and lays the foundation for much-needed cross-sectoral collaboration, which is for positioning Indonesian film as both a cultural force and an economic driver for the region," said Giring Ganesha, Deputy Minister of Culture.

Despite growing interest, Indonesian films still face structural challenges. As of May 2025, the number of admissions in cinemas reached a total of 35 million-44% of 80 million in 2024 - but the country has only more than 2,200 screens nationwide, creating bottlenecks for distribution and IP monetization.

"Our goal is to position the JAFF market as a catalyst for the growth of the national film ecosystem - from generating ideas, development talents to distribution strategies and long-term partnerships," said Linda Gozali, Marketing Director, Jaff Market. "We are here to bridge Indonesian content with real-world opportunities, both locally and internationally."

Jaff Market alumni have made a global impact in 2024. A feature of Reza Rahadian, “Pangku”, was selected as HAF, participated in the Cannes Film Festival at Marché DuFilm 2025, while three IP titles – “Bandits of Batavia”, “Jitu” and “Locust” and “Locust” – successfully participated in the Cannes IP Pitching Forum.

Early indicators showed strong momentum in 2025, with more than 50% of booths already receiving assurance and increasing sponsor interest. The event strategically positions itself at the end of the Southeast Asia industry market calendar.
