Jack Grealish: Manchester City midfielder's "Writing on the Wall"

Their former goalkeeper Shea said Manchester City midfielder Jack Grealish may have to leave for him this summer with "Writing on the Wall".

Grealish, 29, was signed by British record records when he joined Pep Guardiola from Aston Villa in 2021 for £100 million.

The England international won three Premier League titles, the Champions League and the FA Cup, but has dropped this season.

Grelish has only started 16 times in all competitions this season and has lasted 1,520 minutes on the court - less than half of his Champions League 2022-23 season at Manchester City.

He also didn't play when Crystal Palace won the FA Cup final last weekend and was beaten by rival United at Wembley in 2024.

Grealish's future at the Atihad Stadium is unclear the summer, and he increasingly benefits him from his move ahead of next season.

European clubs are likely to attract interest from European clubs.

It is reported that it remains to be seen whether his reported £300,000 per week salary will be any potential shift.

"I have a special liking for Jack Grealish, and his approach is not there." The former city guardian told BBC Radio 5 Live's Monday Night Club while playing with Grealish.

“Sometimes he doesn’t help himself, but he is a talent passed down from generation to generation and you want to build your own team.

“That’s a back-to-back FA Cup final, you need a goal and you don’t use him. In the weekend city, Claudio Echeverri made his debut.

"Jack is international, a multi-winner, and this is a criminal he didn't play in. Writing on the wall. I don't know why Pep even brought him to London. He might be staying at home, too.

“When he plays, he’s a model on the wings, just telling him to keep the shape. Kevin de Bruyne left in the summer, Jack Grealish was the perfect replacement for the middle game, but after something happened, he might not be playing for the club anymore.

"In his career, he had to see what was there. He was an amazing talent and many years left."

Losing in the FA Cup final means that Manchester City will finish the game without a major trophy for the first time since Guardiola took charge in the first season of the 2016-17 year.

They made their final two Premier League matches in sixth and could miss the Champions League next season.

Guardiola said the discussion will be held between outgoing football Txiki Begiristain, his successor Hugo Viana and the player's representatives.

"We didn't speak - I didn't speak to him," Guardiola said. "People don't believe me, but these things belong to agents, clubs and Txiki, and in this case Hugo belongs to Hugo. Both will decide.

“What will happen, but he has to come back and start playing again.

"It's not just Jack. I don't have a player in my locker room, and I think all the locker rooms around the world are happy when they're not playing.

“When a team wins and wins, they have to figure out how it all happens – but they aren’t happy.

"They play here and when they don't play, they're not satisfied. It's the normal position in all clubs."
