Jack Grealish: Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola's absence of moving forward is "no personal" | Football News

Pep Guardiola insists that Jack Grealish's trip to Fulham on his last day at Man City is "not an individual".

Grealish has only started seven Premier League games as Manchester City finished third in the Premier League.

When Manchester City’s team news was announced, Guardiola answered questions about Grelish’s missed by raising it to “choice.”

"The last two months, a month, a month and a half, I (left) once, five, six players at home, and now this time, I decided to make these guys.

"Of course, Jack has to play football. That's the truth. Jack is an incredible player who has to play football every three days. And it didn't happen this season, and it didn't last season. He needs to do it with us or somewhere else.

"But it's a problem with Jack, his agent and the club. If he stays, we'll be fine and he'll fight like the first day to contribute."

pass Sky Sports News Reporter Gary Cotterill, Guardiola added: "Who said I was not satisfied with him? I said I was not satisfied with him in my words?

“The last game he hasn’t played. He’s on the bench and Rico (Lewis) – for me, one of my favorite players – he’s not picked either.

Saturday’s social team runs through the current Manchester City team and debates which players should stay.

“(James) McCart performed well against Aston Villa and was excellent against the Wolves. He wasn’t selected today.

"I have 24 players. Today I have to get rid of six games, today there are 5 players because (Mateo) Kovacic was sent out in the last game. Otherwise, I have 6 players at home.

“It’s not personal to Jack.

"What will happen in the future? Listen, this is Hugo's job, for Txiki. It's not for me."

pep on Man City Rebuild: New Faces Will Come, But Not Many

Later, Guardiola said that despite his hinting that a new signing is coming, he does not think the city needs to be rebuilt.

Espanyol recently had to exclude healthy players from matchday teams and joked this week that he could quit the club if he had too many players to use.

Asked if he thought his squad needed a major overhaul this summer, Guardiola said: "I don't feel that way. Sorry. Maybe the club is a little different. We'll see.

City boss Pep Guardiola said he wanted a smaller squad, or if it stayed too big, he would quit, claiming he didn't want to exclude players who were perfectly suitable for the game day.

“I have 24 players and yesterday I saw my players the day before training and I said, ‘Oh my god, how good they are.’. So I don’t feel that way.

"But, of course, new faces will appear, especially in weak spots. But I don't think much. I don't think much.

“I don’t think there are a lot because we have a good team, they have contracts, they’re going to stay here and I don’t want to have a lot of players.

“I remember the first season we arrived. We were eligible (to the Champions League), we didn’t win a championship. Unlike this season, we won the Community Shield.

“That’s 9, 10, 11 players, no contract. We didn’t expand except Yaya Toure. The rest, we didn’t expand.

“Then you can make the changes. But today, we have 23 players on the contract. It’s not that simple.

“That’s why I don’t think they will (change) a lot of people. But we’ll see.

“Summer is long, the club’s World Cup. Players can see ‘I can’t play, I want to leave, I’m not happy, I want to leave. I don’t know.

"But, sorry, it's not my business now. I run the business and qualify for next year's Champions League, and the rest now belongs to the club."
