Iran's FM stresses Iran's cooperation after reporting on Iran's increased uranium stockpile

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Iran's foreign minister called the UN nuclear watchdog director early Sunday morning with a report from the agency that Iran is further increasing its uranium stockpile and is enriched at weapons level.

Abbas Araghchi wrote in a telegram that he emphasized Iran's "continuing cooperation" in a conversation with Rafael Mariano Grossi, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna. The IAEA did not immediately return a request for comment on the call.

The confidential IAEA report seen on Saturday raised a harsh warning that Iran is now "the only non-nuclear-weapon state that produces such materials", which the agency said was "a serious concern."

Araghchi stressed to Grossi that all nuclear activities in Iran are within the framework of the agreement and are under surveillance by the International Atomic Energy Agency. IAEA inspectors who found Iran's cooperation with the agency found at several sites in Iran found Tehran failed to declare a nuclear site, the International Atomic Energy Agency said in another report.

Araghchi also asked Grossi to ensure that “certain political parties will not develop a political agenda for the Iranian people.” European countries can take further steps toward Iran based on the integrated report, resulting in a gradual escalation of tensions between Iran and the West.

Iran's deputy foreign minister issued a detailed response on Sunday, rejecting many of the findings of the report. Kazem Gharibabadi noted that of the 682 inspections of the IAEA in 32 states, 493 states were conducted in Iran alone.

“As long as a country’s nuclear activities are monitored by the International Atomic Energy Agency, there is no reason to be paid attention to,” he said. “The Islamic Republic of Iran neither pursues nuclear weapons nor any undeclared nuclear material or activity.”

Iran has accumulated 408.6 kg (900.8 pounds) of uranium enrichment as high as 60%, the International Atomic Energy Agency report said.

This has increased by nearly 50% since the IAEA's last report in February. 60% enriched material away from 90% weapon-grade level for short-lived, technology.

U.S.-Iran negotiations are trying to limit Iran's nuclear program in exchange for some broken economic sanctions imposed by the U.S. on the Islamic Republic, which has been tense for nearly 50 years. At that time, the fifth round of negotiations between the United States and Iran ended in Rome with "some, but not conclusive progress."
