Barcelona, Spain - International Negalal coach Simone Inzaghi praised Barcelona's Lamine Yamal as a phenomenon, who appeared every 50 years after fascinating in the 3-3 Champions League semi-finals at the Olympic Stadium on Wednesday.
Inter took a 2-0 lead in 21 minutes with goals from Marcus Thuram and Denzel Dumfries, but made his 100th appearance at the 17-year-old before the half-time ended in Yamal-inspired Barça.
Yamal scored the first for Barça with amazing personal efforts, while Ferran Torres then stepped forward before Dumfries' second goal and Yann Sommer's own goal.
"I'm proud to see how a great team of players came here and fought against the most offensive, most in-house team in the world," Inzaghi said in a post-match press conference. "Barcelona has a player that is hard to stop (Yamar). We started well, but in the last 25 minutes of the first half, he caused a lot of problems.
"He's a player I've never met before and we had to double it up. He's a phenomenon that's born every 50 years. He really impressed me today."
Yamal's goal is his 15th of the season and he was excited after a difficult start. He also hit the bar twice, tortured left back Federico DiMarco and created several opportunities for his teammates.
The teenager performed even better after feeling some muscle pain during the warm-up because he had questions about his physical health before the game.
"He felt (a bit), but everything has been checked, he has the green light (play)," said Barcelona coach Hansi Flick.
“I think Lamine was so important to us in the first half because he created a lot of positive things and scored the first goal. In the big game, he showed his quality.
"I think he's special. He's a genius. I think he likes the situations of these big occasions, too. I'm glad that the talented guy who has been around every 50 years can play for Barcelona."
Barcelona needs all the genius of Yamal against one side, and sometimes brings the game to them despite losing the last three games in all competitions.
Thuram opened the score just 30 seconds later, and Dumfries led from the corner from the corner after 21 minutes. After Barcelona counterattacked, Dumfries scored again from the scene to restore his advantage.
The Serie A team could have won the game after Raphinha's long-range effort divided the Barcelona-level long-range shot with a score of 3-3.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan went out of his way for offside, Pau Cubarsí presented an excellent challenge denied Thuram was a chance to score, while Yamal hit Barça's bar, Sommer rejected Raphinha and saved with a finger.
"Intermet played together for five years, you can see," Frick said. "They switched sides, had fast players, and the scene was great. They were a very good team.
"We know they are one of the best teams in Europe. When you see how high they are, we have to defend them better. We will continue to move forward next week. Finals before the final."
Both teams suffered setbacks from injuries. Barcelona lost Jules Koundé's defender in the first half, and international captain Lautaro Martínez was evacuated at the end of the half.
Martínez is the main suspicion of ending the second leg on Tuesday, but even without the Argentine striker, Barcelona knew they were fighting.
"Like this game, it's going to be difficult," he said. "There are great times tonight, and we compete with teams like Barcelona when we suffer.
"But they also realize that they are fighting a great interface that is hard to beat."
Winners will face Paris Saint-Germain or Arsenal in the Munich final on May 31. PSG won the first leg of the tie with a 1-0 score in London on Tuesday.
