Indy 500 Qualification: Colton Herta suffered from horror wreckage

Colton Herta was involved in a horrible crash during the Indianapolis 500 qualifying event on Saturday.

When he lost control of the vehicle and spindled, he entered No. 1 and No. 2 at 236 mph. Car No. 26 hit his front end and went backwards. As he drove backward, Hurta's car airborne and flipped.

The car continued to extend backwards and turned into 3 and 4. It clutched the wall before it stopped.

Herta was able to get out of the car and get rid of the frightening accident.

"I'm fine. Luckily, these crashes look more terrifying than they feel these days," Hulta told Fox Sports after leaving the emergency department. “Not that guy feels good, but I think the team is trying to get the job of getting the spare car ready right now.

"A bad day is going to happen...no real signs. We were so happy with the car this morning. We couldn't even finish lap 1. So, yes, it sucks, but I'm fine. We'll keep going."

As of Saturday, Herta has won the Indy 500 with a 16-1 shooting percentage.

Herta has won nine wins in his Indycar series career. He won the end of the 2024 season for the last time in Nashville. He is in the top ten and top five this year.

He will be in the Indy 500 in the points ranking. He was in his seventh season last season in Indy.
