I can't make these movies forever

Lindsay Lohan has had a major revival of her acting career as Netflix has produced three Lohan-themed holiday romantic comedies: "Christmas Fall" (2022) (2022), "Irish Wish" (2024) and "Our Little Secret" (2024). Lohan's appearance has made the film a success, with each opening at the top of the Netflix movie rankings. "Our Little Secret" received 32.4 million views on the weekend of its debut, making Lohan's latest Netflix title the largest streaming launch to date.

While one might think Lohan's Netflix success would lead her to continue making original movies for the streaming giant, the actor said in a new interview with Elle Magazine that her acting interests have now surpassed Netflix.

"I always wanted to make movies like this, which makes people happy and makes people unite," Lohan said of her Netflix hits. "I love making movies for it - letting people escape and find something they can bring into their own lives and realize that everything will be fine. But with Netflix, I'm like, 'OK,' Well, now we need to think about something else.' I can't make movies like this forever."

Lohan's next is back to the cinema, with the highly anticipated release of "Freakier Friday", a sequel to "Freaky Friday" in 2003. Lohan and original co-star Jamie Lee Curtis are back in new installments, which will open from Disney on August 8.

"It's easygoing," Lohan told Elle's sequel. “When we made it, I felt everything was easy and I felt that it was the best way to describe the feeling when I looked at it. It felt easy and fun, but it was fresh at the same time. Now, I personally brought me to the cinema. It was cool.

Lohan signed a two-person contract with Netflix after "Christmas Fall", which led to her two 2024 streaming releases. Despite her desire to perform beyond Netflix movies, Lohan hasn't completely abandoned streaming. As reported type Earlier this year, Lohan starred in and executive produced the Hulu series "Count My Lies" based on the novel of the same name. If Greenlit, "Count My Lies" would mark Lohan's first lead role in the TV series.
