Hunter Goodman doubles home run as Rockies beat Marlins to end their eight-game winning streak

MIAMI (AP) — Hunter Goodman has two home runs, including two shots in the fifth inning, while the Colorado Rockies beat the Miami Marlins 6-4 on Monday night to steal the fourth eight-game winning streak of the season.

It was the 10th victory of the Rockies' 50 losses, which has ended its 60 worst games in the modern era (since 1901). The Washington Senator in 1904 and the Boston Red Sox in 1932 both opened 11-49.

Goodman scored two-point shooting percentage in Max Meyer's first game, and Thairo Estrada then scored RBI doubles to give Colorado a lead.

When Goodman threw a ball on the plate, he was accused of making mistakes in the second half, thus making the game score. Otto Lopez added a RBI single at Germán Márquez, and Eric Wagaman's Sacrifice Fly gave Miami a 3-1 lead.

Jesús Sánchez's runs scored 4-1 in the second match.

Goodman got a home run in third place, and Tyler Freeman won the Rockies on his two RBI singles for the fourth time.

Ezequiel Tovar was fifth in singles, and Goodman followed his ninth home run to get a 5-4 advantage.

Keston Hiura was ranked ninth in Colorado's debut match, with Sam Hilliard's singles doubles being covered.

Cincinnati (AP) — Christian Yelich scored his fourth home run in six games, with Milwaukee extending their winning streak to eight games, beating Cincinnati.

Yelich was the National League player of the week earlier in the day - connected on Brady Singer (6-4)'s full slider and drove 417 feet to the straight center and away from the batsman, putting Milwaukee first in the third inning.

Sal Frelick has earned two hits for the Brewers, with their longest winning streak since nine straight wins in August 2023.

Aaron Civale (1-1) won his first win of the season in his third game, as he failed for nearly two months due to a tight left hamstring. The right-hander entered 5 1/3 innings and bounced after allowing two runs for the first time and hit five.

Trevor Megill saved Cincinnati with 13 chances in ninth.

Angel 7, Red Socks 6

BOSTON (AP) — Mike Trout hit three hits, including the Angels’ left center field highlight stand in the first innings of six innings, 454 feet from the left center field highlight, Los Angeles insisted on defeating the Boston Red Sox.

Zach Neto home runs to lead the game, and the Angels took a 5-0 lead before Red Sox starter Richard Fitts (0-3). Jo Adell also scored a home run in the first inning and added another solo in the sixth time after Boston lowered the lead to 6-5.

Jarren Duran scored three hits for Boston, including a fifth inning with two starts. Ceddanne Rafaela made her home run 7-6 in eighth place.

Boston scored four points in the fifth inning, making it 6-5 and loading the base in sixth place, and rescuer Reid Detmers won clean-up batsman Carlos Narváez with a slow-chopped machete to end the game for the third time.

Tiger 13, White Socks 1

CHICAGO (AP) — Kerry Carpenter hit three career-high home runs and ran five times to help Detroit take over Chicago.

As Detroit became the first major league team to win 40 games this season, Dillon Dingler and Wenceel Pérez went deeper. Parker Meadows hit twice twice after an injury in his season and made his debut three times in his season.

Jack Flaherty (4-6) threw six innings in his second win. The right-hander allowed four hits, hit four times, and walked one.

In the last 31 games, the Tigers have improved to 22-9. This is their 11th consecutive victory for the White Sox from September 1 to September 1, 2023, matching the longest winning streak in the opponent's court.
