Mr. Coms, 55, pleaded not guilty to extortion, sex trafficking and traffic for prostitution.

Mr Hayes testified in New York court Tuesday about his first meeting with the couple. He was "explained to not admit it" the man in the room, and he said Mr. Combs was wearing a veil on his face.

Hayes said they were in a hotel room at Trump Tower in western Central Park, where Ms. Ventura greeted the door in a bathrobe.

Also on Tuesday, the court received news from R&B singer Cassie's mother Regina Ventura.

From December 23, 2011, Ms. Ventura's email to her mother was used as evidence. In it, she wrote that Mr. Coms threatened her that he would "release my 2 clear sex tapes".

The email also said that Mr Combs had told Ms. Ventura that he would “someone hurt me”, “He pointed out that it wouldn’t be his hand and he actually said he would be out when it happened.”

After the email was shown in court, Ms. Ventura's mother identified several images of her daughter's family home in Connecticut at about the same time.

They showed bruises on Ms. Ventura's upper back and legs.

Ms. Ventura's mother claimed that the bruises were caused by her assault by Sean Combs.

Ms. Ventura's mother testified that she had taken out a loan with her husband and sent the money to an account as directed by Mr. Coms's "bookkeeper".

Ms. Ventura told the court: "I am afraid of my daughter's safety." She felt she had to pay. ”

Ms. Ventura said the money then reappeared in their accounts. There is no exchange about its return.

Earlier on Tuesday, the defense conducted a rigorous cross-examination of Mr Combs' former personal assistant and pointed out some inconsistencies in the version of the incident he had previously told the government.

The trial is expected to last for several weeks and Mr. Combs may face life imprisonment if found guilty.
