With just two days left until President-elect Donald Trump's second inauguration, excitement is building for the celebrations throughout Washington, D.C., and across the country.
Celebrities and top business leaders gathered around the incoming 47th president of the United States - a stark contrast to the 2017 inauguration.
In November, Trump won the 2024 presidential election in a landslide. He defeated Vice President Kamala Harris after a historic campaign cycle in which he dominated the Electoral College and popular vote.
Since his resounding victory, the president-elect has gained support from traditional allies, including congressional Republicans and Republican governors across the country, as he forms his incoming administration.

However, he has also been popular with top business and Silicon Valley executives who did not have particularly good relations with Trump or his allies during and after Trump's first administration.
Throughout the transition, Amazon's Jeff Bezos, Meta's Mark Zuckerberg and other tech leaders visited Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

Ahead of the inauguration, Bezos, Zuckerberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook and executives from Google, Microsoft, Boeing, Ford Motor Co. and others have each pledged to Trump's inaugural fund. At least $1 million -- nothing like the situation in Trump's first term. Inauguration ceremony.
Trump will also be joined by union leaders at his inauguration, representing the broad coalition of support he has seen since winning, including International Brotherhood of Teamsters President Sean O'Brien and members of the firefighters union.

Celebrities also attended the president-elect's event. Country music star and "American Idol" winner Carrie Underwood will perform "America the Beautiful," and will be joined by the Armed Forces Chorus and the U.S. Naval Academy Glee Club.
Underwood's performance will take place before Trump is sworn in for the second time.
Underwood will be joined at the swearing-in ceremony by opera singer Christopher Macchio, who is expected to sing the national anthem.

According to reports, other top music performers will also perform in Washington, D.C., including Jason Aldean, Rascall Flatts, Kid Rock, Billy Ray Cyrus, Village People and more.
The last time Trump struggled to attract big-name support at his 2017 inauguration, he didn't even attract big-name entertainers. The entertainment was lackluster compared to his predecessor, President Obama's 2013 inauguration, which included performances from Beyoncé and Kelly Clarkson.
Additionally, the 2017 Inauguration Weekend was marred by protests across Washington, D.C.

Protesters wreaked havoc across the city ahead of Inauguration Day in 2017, smashing glass storefronts and burning cars, and police arrested more than 200 people during days of demonstrations.
However, Trump's actual swearing-in on Capitol Hill and march to the White House were without incident.

Despite the chaos, Trump used his inaugural address to call for a "new national pride" to bridge divisions and demand unity.
However, the day after Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States, hundreds of thousands of people from all over the country poured into the U.S. capital to hold the "Women's March on Washington" to protest against his presidency.

Many of the protesters were indeed women, and they were largely peaceful compared to the rioters who wreaked havoc in Washington, D.C. just days earlier. The march moved from the National Mall to the streets, and the newly inaugurated president participated in a national prayer service for the first time since waking up at the White House.

Madonna said at that protest that she had "thought a lot about blowing up the White House."
However, Trump's second inauguration is expected to be a celebratory affair - with the official inaugural weekend kicking off with a massive fireworks display on Saturday night.

On Sunday, there will be a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery and a "Make America Great Again" rally, where Trump will speak, followed by a candlelight dinner.
Monday is Inauguration Day. Trump and Vice President-elect Vance will participate in the swearing-in ceremony; "farewell" to President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris; participate in the Presidential Signing Room Ceremony on Capitol Hill; lead the President The march made its way down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House.

The president will then attend three formal inaugural balls and is expected to deliver a speech at each.
