George Lee / March 3
Hawaiian Rainbow Warriors Cooper Walls hit the game against the Northeast Eskiki in March during an NCAA baseball game at the Les Murakami Stadium.
The popular two-way player from Japan and the Great Western Conference freshman pitcher of the year left the University of Hawaii baseball team.
Itsuki takesmoto is his 17th Jersey bestseller as he is a double role for pitcher and batsman, and Cooper Walls became the ace of freshman pitchers, one of the 11 Rainbow Warriors who entered the NCAA transfer portal on Monday, the first day player. The baseball portal window is open until July 1.
Takemoto entered his second season with a huge big name after being named the top pitcher in the prestigious Cod Cod Summer League. Despite getting elite jobs in the starter's "Bow" Friday night, he's still struggling on his recent outing. In his final start as a bow, Takemoto was charged with four runs in one inning against first-seeded UC Irvine in the Great Western Conference Championship. He completed the 2-6 season with a pitcher of 5.75 ERA and an average of 0.256 and a batsman with a batsman.
As a freshman, the Wall averaged 3-3 with an average score of 3.73. In 60-1/3, the wall hit 45 and walked 15 times. He moved to the role of tandem.
Right-handed rescuer Ethan Thomas also entered the portal. Thomas has returned to 18 appearances this season and has three saves for 3.60 ERA after recovering from an elbow injury requiring Tommy John's surgery. Thomas averaged strikeouts and 2.2 steps per nine innings.
Designated batsman/first baseman Aidan Kuni, receiver Kevin Ferguson, pitchers Kaysen Raineri and Joshua Surigao, and outfielders Bowen, Britton Beeson and Jack Beeson and Jack Salmon also entered the portal on Monday. Freshman shortstop Jarret Nielsen retired from UH soccer team and left the baseball bow and arrow last month, and he also formally applied for the baseball portal.

"In the era we live in, you basically have a different team every year," said UH coach Rich Hill, who plans to recruit players from the portal. "This is a great opportunity for us to build a roster and build a lineup for the NCAA Championship movement. The situation related to the transfer portal is perfect."
