Harris Dickinson's "The Ugly Boy" (To) 5 minutes of Cannes cabaret performance

"Triangles and Sorrow" and "babygirl" star Harris Dickinson delighted the Cannes crowd with his director's debut at 'urchin'.

The film, led by Fear Walking Dead star Frank Dillane, has a global premiere of lively portrayal of homelessness and mental health on the streets of London. "Hilchin" won the new filmmaker, and his actors applauded enthusiastically.

Dickinson felt relieved at the reception, waving the hoarseness of the crowd throughout the room.

"It's a great honor to be here and share it with you guys," he told the audience before the screening. "I'm nervous. I hope you enjoy it, and if you don't, please let us know."

Judging from the response, few people don’t like it. Paul Mescal is the one who joins the applause and will soon be starring alongside Dickinson in the upcoming quartet about the Beatles (Dickinson plays John Lennon to Mescal’s Paul McCartney). The two hugged after the screening, and later left the theater and saw the arm on their arms.

Dickinson, written by Dickinson, sees Dillane play Mike, a rough sleeper in the British capital, trapped in a cycle of self-destruction as he tries to change his life after serving his sentence in prison. The film is original and ridiculous and tries to capture the weird patterns that keep attracting people. Megan Northam, Amr wakes up, and Karyna Khymchuk and Shonagh Marie also star in the stars.

"The Ugly Boy" also marks Dickinson's return to Cannes Film Festival just three years after breaking through the lead role in Ruben Ostlund's "Sad Triangle", which will win Palme d'Or and bring a major rise to the British actor. Since then, he has appeared in "Where the Crawdads Singing Place" with Daisy Edgar-Jones, Zac Efron-led wrestling drama The Iron Claw, Steve McQueen's World War II "Blitz" and last year's "Babygirl" with Nicole Kidman. "Hilchin" is also from Dickinson's newly launched Production Banner Devisio, and production begins once he filmed "Babygirl" in early 2024.

Archie Pearch produced "Hilchin" for Devisio Pictures and Scott O'Donnell for Somesuch. Developed by BBC Film and funded by BBC Film, BFI and Tricky Shot. The executive producers are Eva Yates, Ama Ampadu, Alexandra Tynion and Olivia Tyson. The filming took place in East London.

"The Ugly Boy" is currently being sold worldwide through Charades.
